Kucinich & Gravel: Only in it for the TV cameras? (4.00 / 1)
Anybody see this item from the Times a few days ago?

It was frustrating listening to Gravel's negativity in the Howard U debate the other night. I wish the debate moderator could take some of that time to hear more from far-behind candidates who are actually making a run for it, like Dodd and Biden.

interesting (0.00 / 0)
Obama has 6 of the first 10 votes.  It sems like he does better in the early votes.  Still, at the end of the day, I bet Edwards gets his usual 40%.

The poll is usually freeped by certain groups. I've seen out-of-staters create accounts just to vote in these polls.

freepers (0.00 / 0)
FWIW, the out of state freepers I've noticed are usually Kucinich and Edwards supporters.

[ Parent ]
pray tell (0.00 / 0)
what are freepers?

Out of State Freepers??? (0.00 / 0)
For Kucinich and Edwards? I don't know about Edwards but I personally can vouch for 6 NJ voters who told me they voted for Kucinich. That's out of votes of 4, 9, 6, 12 and, currently 2 votes for Kucinich in the six polls.
Maybe the fourth poll where he got 12 votes had some out of staters but the rest were NOT feepers.
If the poll is limited to NJ voters, that should be so stated. It is not.

Out of State Voters?? (0.00 / 0)
That question does not prohibit anyone from voting in this poll. In fact it's a rather dumb question since none of the candidates are on the primary ballot yet. Who knows who will be on the ballot in February? If you are trying to find out which candidate people are supporting now, you should ask them. I'm sure most voters assumed that's what we are trying to find out.
You neglected to address my main point which is that the Kucinich votes were not freeped.

[ Parent ]
ballot (2.50 / 2)
Because the filing deadlines for the February 5 primary will be months before the Iowa caucus, it is very likely that most, if not all, of the candidates listed in this poll will be on the ballot.

If you don't like the question, don't answer it.

The Kucinich votes might not have been freeped, but Kucinich himself is a creep.  Go Gravel!

Foul! (4.00 / 3)
First off, the correct answer to the question, "Who are you voting for in New Jersey's 2008 presidential primary?" would be "none of the above" because unless they plan on moving to Jersey by the beginning of next February, they ain't voting in that election.

And second, billbrown201, nothing in Bert's post below merits being rated a 1. You can't downrate some just because they disagreed with you. I think Bert's wrong far more often than not, but I always refrain from rating his posts at all, because they are generally not harmful to the conversation.

How about...

"Who would you vote for in New Jersey's 2008 presidential primary?"

I seriously doubt that Juan et al wants to limit the readership of this site to NJ residents.  One way to be welcoming to out-of-state visitors is to include them in things like this straw poll.

And so what if they arrived here because Bill blast e-mailed a link to the poll to every Kucinich supporter in the country (all 12 of them).  Hopefully, if they come for the poll, they'll stay for the conversation.

Who knows?  Maybe they will even realize what a waste of time their Presidential candidate is and jump ship to someone with slightly more credibility (like John Edwards - I said slightly - at least they wouldn't be wasting their time).

Blast Emails??? (0.00 / 0)
I do not "blast email" as Bert once asked me to do in the distant past on another subject. I refused that request and I continue to avoid "blast emails".

[ Parent ]
Foul??? (4.00 / 1)
I did not rate it "unproductive" because he disagreed. I rated it unproductive because I thought it was unproductive. I rarely rate a posting but in this case I made an exception because I really didn't want to respond to what I considered unproductive (and insulting) statements. If rating comments is not allowed, according to protocol, I apologize to the community. However, I won't promise not to rate again.
Perhaps you could tell me how productive is Bert's statement "Kucinich himself is a creep"?

In-state voter (0.00 / 0)
Here's one New Jerseyan who's voting for Edwards.

And I understand that the out-of-state voters vote for Clinton because New Jerseyans have too much political smarts to vote for her.  ;  )

Did Jill Hazelbaker freep the poll? n/t (0.00 / 0)

[ Parent ]
So Juan, are you saying... (0.00 / 0)
... the site records who voted for whom?

[ Parent ]
re: (0.00 / 0)
No, that's not what I am saying.

I don't know if the site records that. I would assume it doesn't, and if it does I don't have access to that information.

I am saying that every time a poll like this goes up, I see people register on the site who are members of active communities of presidential campaigns outside of the state.

Out of State Freepers (0.00 / 0)
Juan, you stated "...out of state freepers I've noticed are usually Kucinich and Edwards supporters". How did you know they were Kucinich supporters?

[ Parent ]
re: Out of State Freepers (0.00 / 0)
googling. That's all I'm going to say. I could name names, but I'm not going to.

Okay (0.00 / 0)
Just curious.  (And I don't think you'd ever publish anyone's vote.)  But it would give you an interesting insight, since I'm sure many of us vote without considering that it may not be a truly secret ballot.

[ Parent ]
why (0.00 / 0)
Why is Obama's name the only one not capitalized in the tags?

"That we accept the world as it is does not in any sense weaken our desire to change it into what we believe it should be-it is necessary to begin where the world is if we are going to change it to what we think it should be." -Saul Alinsky

tags (0.00 / 0)
Whoever was the first person to use the tag "Barack Obama" spelled it in lowercase. That's how it appears from that point on.

[ Parent ]
ok, thanks (0.00 / 0)
I was just wondering

Please capitalize names, since we might get stuck with lowercase forever.

IRV & Uncommitted Delegates (0.00 / 0)
Would it be possible to use Instant Runoff Voting in the future?  I think that it might give us all a better sense of the breadth and depth of the support that these candidates have within the Blue Jersey community.

Also, instead of or in addition to Other, would it be possible to put Uncommitted on the list of choices?

I am thinking about trying to get onto the ballot as an Uncommitted delegate.  It would be interesting to see how many people here would vote for an Uncommitted delegate instead of a delegate that is committed to one of the candidates.

I would also be curious to see if there is anybody else in the state who is also interested in running as an Uncommitted delegate?

Obama. (4.00 / 1)
I voted for Obama again, as I have since Clark was dropped from the list. But this time I was less sure of my support for him.

Richardson seemed unprepared at the Howard U debate. Clinton seems to be giving off passion, but in a stilted sort of way. And I didn't like what I read about them in Bob Shrum's new book. I like Biden a lot, but I don't agree with much of his politics. And I don't see Chris Dodd being the kind of leader we need in 2008.

Get a Grip!!! (0.00 / 0)
You guys are getting upset over this crap.  I can guarantee you that not a single campaign will change their strategy over the outcome.

Yes, the webpage automatically logs IP addresses, scans your hard-drive for indications of your identity, reviews a reverse-listing IP directory, and double-checks against reverse-911 to determine who you are.  It then automatically sends this information to the J. Edgar Hoover/John Ashcroft Information Mining Center where transvestite nuns plumb the depths of your voting preferences in order to determine who you are and why you are voting as you are.  The report is then emailed directly to me.  I delete it as spam.

The nuns also forcibly changed Obama's name into lower case so as to make him look shorter than the other candidates and thereby undermine his support.  There are also subliminal messages imbedded - such as "All Crazy People Vote for This Guy" in Mike Gravel's name or "If You Were Beat Up in Gradeschool Vote for This Guy in Kucinich's.  Obviously, with such a powerful network, Blue Jersey draws people from all over the inter-tubes.  They can't help it.  Pity the poor crazy people who were beat up in gradeschool who spend hours with their finger hovering over their mouse button, locked in indecision.

Yes, such an important decision demands Instant Running Off at the Mouth voting because its scientific usefulness hinges on our ability to uncover even more information.

Next month, every person in NJ will be sent a secret ID number by inverse microwave modulation.  The only substance known to mankind to protect from this insidious and evil signal that creates an uncontrollable urge to vote is tinfoil.

Now that I know about the encryption, I'll be able to vote according to my own will. Unless of course, Juan has been filling my Brita filters with mind control drugs as part of his Secret Blue Jersey Plan To Influence the Presidential Election using Online Polls.
