Blue Jersey Founder Named 17th Most Powerful Politico in NJ

by: Jeff Gardner

Thu Jun 21, 2007 at 03:50:32 PM EDT

Today, PoliticsNJ released its much-anticipated list of New Jersey's top 100 political power-brokers, and none other than our very own Juan Melli was named the 17th most politically influential personality in the state.
The anti-machine liberal blogger has emerged as the Pied Piper of the progressive wing of the New Jersey Democratic Party, with no hesitation of criticizing fellow Democrats if he thinks they've wandered off his reservation.
Of course, Juan is numero uno in our book. But, hey - considering BlueJersey.com has not yet celebrated our 2nd Birthday - 17th is none-too-shabby.

Congratulations to our favorite Politician of the Year, and to our many friends and, er, acquaintances on the list.

A man of power (0.00 / 0)
Juan Melli - Has More Stroke than Trump

Congrats to Juan (0.00 / 0)
& I see another Blue Jersey pal, Steven Goldstein, sitting pretty at #27

Obsession with Ferriero. (0.00 / 0)
Ferriero is more powerful than the Hudson or Essex chairs?

I think not.

The list is not valid at so many levels because elected officials play a role in the power structure of the parties.

This seems more like a list to sooth the egos of a bunch of insiders impressed with themselves.

How is a staffer "more powerful" than his own boss?

Makes little sense to me.

Dude...are you serious?

Obviously you've never worked on a campaign or in government.

BigDD - there's more to "politics" than what you read in the papers or in press releases.

Are you serious? (0.00 / 0)
Let ne get this straight, members of Congress, mayors and legislators hold LESS POWER than the very people they work for?

You believe that?

Are you kidding me?

So, Mayor Nick Sacco isn't more influential than just about everyone on that stupid list? How about Mayor Brian Stack? Cory Booker? Jerry Healy?
Doug Palmer? Rob Andrews?

How many names do I need to rattle off that actually hold the power while these hacks promote themselves?

I've worked in far too many campaigns to realize that insiders, consultants, lawyers and other parasites of politics have this impression they run things....

This list is an extension of this self masturbation.

hmmm (0.00 / 0)
How much do you think Trump would pay for the #17 spot?

Juan Trumps Trump! (4.00 / 1)
and both he AND Steven are more influential than Steve Lonagan.  Who'd a thunk it?  Well actually.....us!

One Vote.  Yours.  It really does matter.
