BCD'Oh My God, Part II

by: Juan Melli

Wed Jun 20, 2007 at 12:55:44 AM EDT

PoliticsNJ reports that Senator Joe Coniglio, the subject of multiple subpoenas, may be forced to step down:

Democratic sources say that if the Coniglio's woes continue, he'll face pressure to drop his bid for re-election to a third term. They say that Bergen County Democratic Chairman Joseph Ferriero won't chance a loss of the Senate seat to the struggling Republican Party. [...]

The conventional wisdom is that Democrats would turn to Assemblyman Robert Gordon, who has also been subpoenaed as part of the federal probe of state budget items, or Paramus Mayor James Tedesco.

We've been receiving anonymous tips indicating that Coniglio's head is on the chopping block at a pace we haven't seen since the BCDO dropped their primary challenge to Senator Weinberg.

Seems like something is about to go down...

I'm waiting for more news like y'all.  It should be noted, Paramus is also a Ferriero town.  Dennis Oury is the Borough Attorney.

As for HUMC, some doctors offices at 20 Prospect have receptionists TRAINED not to accept patients with certain insurance.  I was told by a receptionist that they don't take Oxford PATIENTS.  Not just Oxford insurance.  Even when I offered to pay UP FRONT in CASH for service, I was told I was not allowed to be a patient of theirs.  My plan says I can pay for doctors out of network.  But the HUMC doctors WILL NOT EVEN SEE ME simply because I have an Oxford plan.  Is it because Oxford scrutinizes bills and does not pay without question?  The first time it happened, I had to make a scene, the second time I had to pretend I had no insurance at all for them to let me see my doctor who had treated me for 8 years.

The doctors in the office and the nurses told me privately they are appalled at the policy, but the receptionists are actually TRAINED by the folks in charge of policy to TURN AWAY patients with Oxford insurance.  This is how folks do business in Hackensack when Senator Coniglio and Joe Ferriero are CONSULTANTS for them.

ANY reform of Health Care and government ethics MUST address not only the insurance companies but the Hospital and medical center billing practices as well.  There is no other conclusion I can come to except that some hospitals do not want to deal with insurance companies who watch for fraud.  Now why one earth would that be?

One Vote.  Yours.  It really does matter.

that is conjecture and absolutely ludicrous carol (0.00 / 0)
First off, Senator Coniglio was a consultant for the hospital about construction and plumbing.  Chairman Ferriero was a consultant too but certainly not for insurance matters.  The issues you mention are problems at hospitals and healthcare centers across america.  Your spin is unfair and nasty.  Don't start down that path with vicious rumors carol.  You won't like where it leads.

Sounds like a threat to me. (0.00 / 0)
Are we not allowed to have opinions here?

What exactly is a plumbing consultant anyway? If you have a problem, do you need to hire a consultant to hire a plumber?

Coniglio is in big trouble politically and rumors are running wild that Tedesco is already been tapped as the nominee in waiting.

Is that not true or is it just rumors?

Coniglio has become radioactive politically and the BCDO won't even comment on his troubles?

This is part and parcel on how the BCDO operates and how electing a Republican might be the only way to change things in the long run.

It's my understanding he was hired as HUMC was undertaking the construction of a new wing. Hence the need for construction consultants. That's just what I hear though.

I am not talking insurance (0.00 / 0)
I'm talking illegal billing.  Gee, I must have hit a nerve. I have a problem with them taking taxpayer money and billing illegally and turning away patients.  Ferriero helps them with zoning laws.  Which, by the way, Dennis Oury's firm is demanding Tenafly change it's zoning laws just to suit one new medical building in town.  There must be lots of money in that in Hackensack.  They're looking to cash in in Tenafly too.

Oh, and where does that veiled threat you gave me lead?  Just curious.

I am not liking the threatening tone coming out of Hackensack these days.  It came through loud and clear in the Passenger Rail Committee meeting too.  Everyone in the room heard it straight from Farouk from Bergen County who told us to drop our resistance to Diesel units and any further study or we would get NO MONEY for any passenger rail service.  Nice, huh?

It's all connected and its all a problem.  Bergen is the new Hudson.

One Vote.  Yours.  It really does matter.

sorry (0.00 / 0)
There was no threat in what I said.  I just did not like the false connections you were making.  I wouldn't want to see you make a habit of that.
