Mike Ferguson and Scott Garrett, Living On the Edge

by: Steven Hart

Tue May 29, 2007 at 01:18:42 PM EDT

Rise, everyone, and put your hands together for New Jersey legislators Mike Ferguson and Scott Garrett, doughty Republicans who understand that the real threat facing America isn't the fact that their president has transformed Iraq into a sleepaway camp for terrorists looking to hone their urban warfare skills and use them in other countries. No, the threat that has them galloping faster than Paul Revere is the fact that the words "In God We Trust" are on the edges of the new $1 coins.

What, you don?t see the problem here? Don?t you understand that use of the coins means the word ?God? will be gradually worn away, leaving anyone who buys a can of soda at the vending machine open to Satanic influence? That?s why Garrett and Ferguson bravely added their names to HR 2510, which would require that the big guy?s name be printed on the face of each coin, not the edge, so as to be shielded from friction by the devil?s fingernails.

As your heart swells with pride ? or your lunch becomes buoyant ? be sure to check in here and see how many other legislators signed aboard this particular ship of fools.

When Linda Stender challenged Ferguson, the airwaves were thick with pro-Ferguson radio spots full of people chanting "Stender is a spender" like an aviary full of demented macaws. Maybe "Fergie is a flake" should be the rallying cry for the next election.

Ha! (0.00 / 0)
Talk about spending.  This bill will require the mint to retool every single coin printing line.

That's throwing bad money after good!

Ferguson & Garrett--roomies? (0.00 / 0)
I'm pretty sure that the people in the 7th district who already have so much to thank Ferguson for while they're bailing out their basements and replacing stuff, really appreciate how hard their rep is working to save our souls from this menace.

Not only is Ferguson a flake, but Garrett is, as usual, batsh*t crazy.

Then again, Garrett isn't particularly sympathetic to the needs of people who have been affected by floods, either.

Besides, wasn't it only in the 1950's that "In God We Trust" was put onto our money? I might be mistaken here. Whatever. Whether "In God We Trust" is on the currency & coin of this realm or not, edge or face, these clowns are ensuring that the U.S. taxpayer has fewer examples of it in our possession to examine anyway.

I like Zeus (0.00 / 0)
See the reaction if someone in Congress introduces a bill to change the motto to "In Zeus We Trust." The word God is too vague or me, but Zeus, now there's a name: One nation under Zeus, Zeus Bless America, and the ever popular, Zeus damn it, who let their dog shit on my lawn? Garret and Ferguson would be more popular in one of the Confederate states.

Restore democracy and the Constitution for which it stands.
