What's Next in the 37th?

by: Juan Melli

Fri Apr 13, 2007 at 06:27:51 PM EDT

While Loretta Weinberg, Gordon Johnson and Valerie Huttle are expected to move to the BCDO line, unresolved questions remain about the fate of the rest of the Real Bergen Democrats slate.  Several sources have indicated that unless other candidates on the Real Bergen Democrats' ticket withdraw from their respective races, they will run without any legislative candidates at the top of the ticket.

One Vote.  Yours.  It really does matter.

So conspiratorial... (0.00 / 0)
This is the third or fourth time you've posted a comment indicating some sort of surprise coming on the local level in Bergen.  At some point, you need to start filling the rest of us in.  The suspense is going to drive me Lonegan-level crazy!

The rest of the ticket will move on and win so game on!!!!

2008 (0.00 / 0)
The bigger question that needs to be answered is whether or not this cease fire will also extend to next year's County Committee elections.

People in Bergen who I know who are in the know have told me that there are approximately 1500 County Committee seats, 250 of which are opposed to Ferriero, 1000 of which are loyal to Ferriero, and another 250 of which are unknown.

There is less than a year before the 2008 filing deadline.  If there is going to be an effort made to unseat Ferriero as County Chairman, the opposition needs to at least another 550 seats either by defeating Ferriero loyalists or winning them and undecideds over to their side.

To have a good chance of winning 550 seats through the ballot box, I believe that all 1000 Ferriero loyalists and some undecideds need to be challenged.  Can over a thousand County Committee candidates be recruited in less than a year?  Possibly, but the opposition needs to stop celebrating their "victory" in the 37th and get back to work.

Real Bergen Dems are Still moving with or without the top three (0.00 / 0)
If this deal goes or does not go, the rest of the real bergen dems will move on and run to win. The bergen dems will win in June for freeholder, sheriff and local seats without the top three  but the real qustion as my boy howie would say "Deal or no deal?"
