one of these things (4.00 / 2)
One of these things is not like the others,
One of these things just doesn't belong,
Can you tell which thing is not like the others
By the time I finish my song?

:-|  :-D  :-D

i though what really set Loretta apart is that she's the one who didn't have the sun-kissed look of the others.

bad biz (0.00 / 0)
its a shame that they did't beat the machine the way they could have. How can they make things right for the rest of the people they put on the line thanks for nothing. To lay down afer a poll showing you up 76 % is like giving away the store glad I was not apart of that let down  the people of the 37th have to live with. well good luck to all the REAL BERGEN DEMS that are still on the line.

help me out (0.00 / 0)
Can you explain who is no longer on which line(s)?

[ Parent ]
Au, contraire (0.00 / 0)
See the column by Tom Moran this morning.  It says it better than I could:

http://www.nj.com/co...

He was there in the room yesterday and he actually got the drift in between the spin.

Don't worry about the Real Bergen Dems.  We'll be just fine.  Do you think Loretta Weinberg went to this Press Conference without meeting with all the folks on her line first?  If you think that, you don't know Loretta like we do.......

Stay tuned, things are never as they appear.

One Vote.  Yours.  It really does matter.

A big dissapointment for progressives (0.00 / 0)
The deal got nothing that will continue the progressive movement.  The fight was given up just as victory was close.  REAL BERGEN DEMOCRATS on the lines may now face the sad possibility of running against Weinberg.

The local lines were not consulted.  Imagine if George Washington had gotten people to sign the Declaration of Indpendence, and then cut a deal with the British!!

[ Parent ]
How do you know? (0.00 / 0)
Are you running on the Real Bergen Dems line?

One Vote.  Yours.  It really does matter.

[ Parent ]
I do not wish to get personal. 100% however that (0.00 / 0)
local lines were not consulted prior to decison, nor was local consideration part of the 'deal'.

[ Parent ]
Wrong (0.00 / 0)
They were consulted.

One Vote.  Yours.  It really does matter.

The ONLY thing (0.00 / 0)
that will make real progress in NJ politics is getting folks to the Primary and educating them.  Period.  That is all we can even hope to accomplish.  Whining that we were "tricked" or "betrayed" is not grasping the severity of the situation and how to actually repair the problems.  Ferriero wants us to stay home on Primary day because that is where all his power is reinforced.  He doesn't like contested primaries because it sheds light on the process.  That is what this little excercise yesterday was all about.  We still must always impress on people that the Primary is AS IMPORTANT as the general election. And that they must KNOW who is running.  We still have to do that.  Senator Weinberg and Assemblymembers Huttle and Johnson will be re-elected with little difficulty this year and that is a relief.  HOWEVER, our work educating folks about the importance of the Primary is CRUCIAL to progressive efforts all over the ENTIRE state of NJ if we are to see true reform.  The fact that the 37th race is a Clean Elections race is also heartening.

Buck up little camper, we're gonna need your help for the fight against Pay-To-Play. It will help having Weinberg, Huttle and Johnson in Trenton while we do that.

One Vote.  Yours.  It really does matter.

Yes, Weinberg, Huttle, Johnson and Joey F! (2.00 / 1)
March on Progressives!  End Pay to Play by...making Pay to Play more powerful than ever before.

[ Parent ]
Why the vitriol? (0.00 / 0)
Bergenfield is ALREADY a Ferriero town.  You got Dennis Oury as the Borough Attorney now.  You've got Clancy's girlfriend running the committee.  You were gonna have to educate your voters ANYWAY about the Primary.  I had to do it.  In Tenafly, we were going to run on either Loretta's line or our own Tenafly Dems line - not on the BCDO line.  Are we crying and whining right now?  No.  We were lucky to not have anyone challenge us in the BCDO column, but that is not the case everywhere.

We have to educate the voters as to who is in what column everywhere there is a challenge.  I hate to tell folks, THAT is what the Municipal Democratic Committees do.  You are the front lines for the Democratic voters in your town.  If you don't want to educate your voters and want to always appear in a particular column so the voters don't have to think and you can just skate through the primary, then that isn't progress, my friend.  It won't change anything this year and it won't change anything next year either.  And pay to play will continue.  What will you do next year without Senator Weinberg's coattails to run on?  We have to EDUCATE the voter about the PRIMARIES - EVERY year, in EVERY town, for EVERY race.  EVERY SINGLE RACE.

One Vote.  Yours.  It really does matter.

The one who needed this picture the most (0.00 / 0)
is Ferriero.
