Ferguson Is No Moderate.. My letter to NYTimes

Dear Editor:

For Raymond Hernandez to characterize Mike Ferguson as a "moderate" and compare him to Connecticut's Chris Shays would be an insult to Mr. Shay's actual voting record. Mike Ferguson when first elected in 2000 may have actually voted for some progressive legislation, but his actual voting record is in fact more like the conservative Peter King.

The Human Rights Campaign  scored Mr. Shays with ratings of 100, 88 and 100, respectively in the 107th, 108th and 109th Congresses. Mr. King had consistent scores of Zero, Zero and Zero. Mike Ferguson started with a 67 took their endorsement and funds, but then showed his true colors with a 22, and joined Mr. King with a Zero score in the last Congress.

It is significant to note that in 2005 when "moderate House Republicans"  joined with Democrats to pass a Hate Crimes Bill, Mike Ferguson's vote was not among them. He's more like Peter King or Scott Garrett. Moderate? Please ..., give us a break!!
