McCain pandering again (?!)

by: DottieG

Mon Feb 19, 2007 at 03:25:39 PM EST

This just in from AOL News:

John McCain, campaigning in South Carolina, says  that Roe v. Wade should be overturned, and has  pledged to appoint Supreme Court judges who will do just that.  (Haven't we got enough of them already?)

That should dash McCain's hopes of winning the New Jersey primary--no matter which NJ pols are backing him--as long as the word gets out.  Fortunately these days it's more difficult for politicians to say one thing in South Carolina and another in New Jersey.

And this guy tries to portray himself as a "moderate"!

I think McCain is done (0.00 / 0)
The conservative base doesn't like him (I've heard Rush Limbaugh run mocking skits about him), while the moderates are figuring out he is really right wing.  I think Giuliani has a great shot -- though many people think I am wrong.  what's disturbing is that Giuliani is the opposite of what we need in a President -- he's an authoritarian, while we need a return to the Constitution after 8 years of Bush-Cheney.

Romney? (0.00 / 0)
Visited with an ultra-conservative family member over the weekend and found a huge supporter of Mitt Romney. Her main reason: His push toward near-universal health insurance, which he succeeded in providing in Mass. (Ultra-con Relative was really happy to point out that Hillary couldn't do that for the country when it was her job, but Romney did it for his state.)

He's been pretty clear to distance himself from the pro-choice and pro-gun control stances he took to get himself elected Governor, clearly pandering to the ultra-cons who vote in primaries.

I just found a recent poll where Romney's pulling 10%, where Guliani has 28% and McCain 21%. 'Course, it's very far out and things change, but it was an interesting point about the health care. Could Romney be the dark horse?
