Someone's Not Getting Tenure

by: Juan Melli

Fri Jan 05, 2007 at 05:50:56 PM EST

Professor Tom Kean Jr objects to Corzine rating himself an "incomplete" for his first year:
I believe that the Governor was being more than generous when he graded his first year in office as an incomplete. Governor Corzine presided over a more than billion dollar tax increase on already over-taxed citizens and was responsible for the first shutdown of state government in history. I think history will show that his freshman year earned failing marks.
During the campaign, Tom Kean Jr was asked to grade the Bush administration whose accomplishments included trillions in deficit spending, a catastrophic war, and a botched response to Katrina. He gave Bush a B-minus.

At least he's got the infinite monkey theorem on his side. He can't be wrong forever.

Um, excuse me Tommy Boy (0.00 / 0)
But it sounds like these are things that someone on the Budget Committee might be able to do something about.  You remember the Budget Committee, right?  It's that group of people you fled because you were too busy running an ugly campaign for Senate.  Or maybe it was because you're a coward.

death penalty (0.00 / 0)
The funniest thing is that he repeats the tired refrain that pedophilia is a capital crime punishable by death.

is the face and voice of New Jersey's Republican Party. Let's keep it that way. It hasn't penetrated his thick skull that Bush's 22% approval is a sign of political bankruptcy.
Thank Zeus I'm a Democrat.

Restore democracy and the Constitution for which it stands.

ALTHOUGH I'M NOT THRILLED WITH "SPINELESS" LAUTENBERG (0.00 / 0)
KEAN, JR. is WORSE than WORSE!  He is unable to even SPEAK the English language, for starters, and his inarticulateness is only the beginning!  If it were between the two of them, I would definitely keep Lautenberg!  I would much prefer a Democratic Primary next time, however.

CAPS & Lautenberg (0.00 / 0)
Please stop using CAPS. It's poor netiquette and represents screaming.

And regarding some of your objections to Lautenberg:

On Alito, he voted against him. So he was torn about it. Isn't it a good thing that he gave this thoughtful consideration? You should remember that in 1990, Lautenberg spoke strongly in support of and voted for Alito's nomination to the US Court of Appeals. I'm sure it wasn't easy for him to re-examine that decision and essentially admit poor judgement. That's something to applaud, not criticize.

On voting for torture - it was an unexcusably stupid move, but he did it only to provide cover for Menendez, not because he believed in it. Maybe that's even worse. You decide, but that's what happened. Hopefully they'll spend the next few years cleaning up the mess they made with that vote.

I'LL "SCREAM," IF I WANT, (0.00 / 1)
AND LAUTENBERG'S A WIMP!

A MAN WITH NO SPINE!  How would you know his motives, unless you work for him, are related to him, or are HIM?  N.J. can do a lot better!

no, you won't (0.00 / 0)
I asked nicely already. I don't want to ban you but if you continue, I will.

Lautenberg's motives (0.00 / 0)
It's pretty easy. I know because he's admitted that that's why he voted for that bill.

I don't have a life either (0.00 / 0)
Spent Saturday nite watching:

Casablanca - for the millionth time.  "We'll always have Paris...."

Verklempt!  (I probably spelled that wrong too.)

My Cousin Vinnie - for about the 10th time. "These two yut's."

Ridiculous, of course.  But that's the point.

Life, if you have one, is too short....

my post looks sillier than it did a few hours ago.  It was supposed to be a gentle nudge at Krose to calm down.

As a refugee from blogs where flame wars were common and troll killing was the sport du jour, I found Blue Jersey to be a place where rational discussion could occur.  It was refreshing experience in this world gone mad, and I have learned a lot.

It's just so much more difficult to learn anything when the volume is so high.

Krose, you have points to make - just put 'em out there.
