Introducing the Typo Correction Act of 2007

SYNOPSIS
     Enacts the "Typo Correction Act of 2007."
 
CURRENT VERSION OF TEXT
     As introduced.
  
AN ACT concerning a series of typographical errors regarding legally recognized unions of two consenting persons.

     WHEREAS, we blame the clerk for forgetting to use the spellchecker; and
     WHEREAS, a series of unfortunate mistakes exist in current legislation; and
     WHEREAS, we are too chicken and/or insecure with ourselves to have an honest discussion on this issue so we have to do this in a really roundabout manner,

BE IT ENACTED by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:

1. The following typographical errors shall be corrected in R.S.37:1-1 in the following order, to take effect on the following dates:

January 15, 2007: civil union
The letter "c" shall be changed to "m"

February 15, 2007: mivil union
The first letter "i" shall be changed to "a"

March 15, 2007: mavil union
The letter "v" shall be changed to "r"

April 15, 2007: maril union
The first letter "i" and "l" shall be transposed. The letter "l" shall be changed to "r".

May 15, 2007: marri union
The space shall be deleted. The first letter "u" shall be changed to"a".

June 15, 2007: marrianion
The letter "n" shall be changed to "g"

July 15, 2007: marriagion
The letter "o" shall be changed to "e". The letter "n" shall be deleted.

August 15, 2007: marriagie
The second letter "i" shall be deleted.

It sounds cooler. Like a type of alien from Star Trek.

"Oh no! Spock, look! The marriagions are coming! We're doomed!"


Possible Amendments (4.00 / 1)
WHEREAS The previous effects of the Typo Correction Act of 2007 are consistent with this Legislature's interpretation of English grammar and
WHEREAS The New Jersey Code as amended by the Typo Correction Act of 2007 fails to adequately reflect the urgency or fundamental nature of the values of equality, justice, and fairness under the law,

RESOLVED, that there should appear a comma (",") after the final "e," as amended.

RESOLVED that there should appear the words "God damn it," after the comma.

RESOLVED that there should appear an exclamation point ("!") after the inserted words.
