The hate-mongering Westboro Baptist Church will protest at the funeral of a fallen marine this morning in Madison:

A religious group that routinely pickets military funerals --claiming that American servicemen and women are dying because God is angry at the country's tolerance toward homosexuality -- plans to demonstrate during today's funeral for Marine Lance Cpl. Christopher Cosgrove.
The Westboro Baptist Church, based in Topeka, Kan., announced Tuesday that it would picket the funeral at St. Vincent Martyr Church in Madison, where funeral services for Cosgrove will be held beginning at 10:15 a.m.
Cosgrove, a 2001 graduate of Whippany Park High School, was killed Oct. 1 by a suicide bomber while manning a checkpoint in Iraq.

I don't know what the family wants to do about this, but I would assume they wouldn't mind some supportive counter-protestors there. Anybody know someone with the Patriot Guard?

The good news, if there can be good news about Fred Phelps and his inbred klan of xtian rejects, is that they announce many more funeral disruptions than they actually perpetrate. They get the press without bearing the expense of travelling from KS to NJ. I'm hopeful that they will, as usual, not show -- they really never have in this area. (I am open to being corrected on this point).

I live in Madison and drove past the church a couple of times this morning. Lots of Marines, lots of police, no protesters in sight (at that time, anyway).
