Burlco Dem Chairman calls Junior's hypocrisy

by: Jason Springer

Sat Sep 23, 2006 at 12:13:21 PM EDT

So the other day, Junior called the moral high ground by asking Wayne Bryant to resign, who no one is defending here.  Well, the Burlington County Democratic Chairman wants him to be consistent and ask for Martha Bark, the Republican Senator from the 8th district to resign as well...
Democratic Party Chairman Rick Perr challenged Kean yesterday to take the same strong position against state Sen. Martha Bark, R-8th of Medford.

The state Attorney General's Office is investigating positions Bark held with two Burlington County government agencies that paid her a combined $330,000 from 1997 to 2003.

State investigators said they are trying to determine what, if any, work Bark did while employed by the Burlington County Bridge Commission from 1997 to 2001 and Burlington County Institute of Technology in 2002 and 2003.

The state launched an investigation in March 2004, a week after the Burlington County Times published a story that said the two agencies had no records that explicitly showed how much work Bark performed on those government jobs.

Kean, who also is a state senator, has called for a state investigation of Bryant, citing the report that questioned Bryant's job and the millions in state funds he helped steer to the university while he was its employee.

Bark has similarly been criticized for sponsoring legislation that granted improvement-authority power to the bridge commission while she was an agency employee.

So that's the background on the story and after Junior's wondeful press staff declined to comment on whether Bark should resign as well, lets see what the chairman had to say...
Jason Springer :: Burlco Dem Chairman calls Junior's hypocrisy
Perr said Kean is showing his true colors on the ethics issue by being so quick to say Bryant, a Democrat, should resign, but avoiding the same question about Bark, a member of his own party.

“It only underscores the fact that Tom Kean Jr. is a hypocrite and will not take a stand except for political purposes,” Perr said, adding that he believes Bryant should at least step down from his leadership post with a Senate budget panel.

So the chairman is consistent, but the candidate, well... not so consistent.  But Junior's brain trust for the media didnt stop there...
Hazelbaker said Perr and other Democrats are using the Bryant-Bark issue to distract attention from the ethics questions U.S. Sen. Bob Menendez is facing. The U.S. Attorney's Office is investigating a landlord-tenant relationship between the Democrat and a federally funded nonprofit organization in Union County.
Uh, i'm sorry but didn't Junior jump into this one by calling for the resignation in the first place?  Junior's whole campaign contradicts itself and i hope the voters realize on November 7.

....is full of turds.  And none of them are about to resign any leadership post.  that's a given.

But Junior's attention to the bryant affair (who in my opinion of the turdmeister) and indifference to the bark incident highlight Kid Kean's philosophical and moral inconsistancies.

Bark has to go too. (0.00 / 0)
Good post. I'm very disappointed. Originally I wanted to support Kean because I'd read of a good reform bill he sponsored while in his senate postion. It went nowhere in the legislature while McGreevey was Gov., but it was a good bill.
But if he can't stand up and admit that Bark stole, then he's got no business running under this 'ethical' platform.
Now, if Menendez would come out and call for Bark AND Bryant to resign, he'd have my vote sewn up.

Kean Jr. brought up the issue.

Democrats point out that Kean Jr. is being hypocritical.

Jill the Troll blames the Democrats for "changing the subject" when they were just talking about the issues Kean Jr. wants to talk about.
