College Republican Thugs

by: Juan Melli

Mon Sep 18, 2006 at 10:11:47 PM EDT

A few people are upset that we're picking on a bunch of innocent little college Republican kids who just want to be involved in politics. Stop kidding yourselves. They're sick people.

Earlier today, Ambassador Joe Wilson, who's wife Valerie Plame was outed as a CIA agent, was in New Jersey to support Bob Menendez's campaign.

Joe Wilson

While introducing the senator at the Rutgers University event, the college Republicans in the crowd (at least some, including suit/sandals fashion diva, were the same as the ones at the bowling alley) heckled Wilson and yelled out that he should apologize to Karl Rove. Get that? They believe that Karl Rove, one of the people who outed his wife, and who shopped the information around to various conservative news sources as policital revenge deserves an apology.
"I just got off the phone with Karl Rove, who said your wife was fair game."
-- MSNBC host Chris Matthews, in a phone call to Ambassador Joseph Wilson after the exposure of Wilson's wife as an undercover CIA operative.
Later, when Senator Menedez spoke about the need for a change of course in Iraq and to bring our troops home safely, the college Republicans accused him of being a traitor.

To summarize: Leaking the identity of a covert CIA agent who was investigating Iraq's possible purchase of nuclear processing materials: good. Questioning the failed policies of a president: traitorous. It's that simple. They're just a bunch of ignorant thugs and that's how they deserve to be treated.

Thanks Juan, for clarifying/specifying the "nature of the beast" we're dealing with here.  I take your word for it.

I remember being with a large contingent of Menendez supporters on Fletcher Avenue outside the TV studios in Ft Lee the morning Menendez had a debate with Junior.  There were a few Republicans that finally showed up and they did their pro Keane thing.  That bunch was  quite polite and nice on that day.  As were we.  The atmosphere was generally cheerful and democratically positive despite our differences.

What you're describing Juan, reminds me of the thugs in Florida who intimidated the people counting the votes.  (http://www.pww.org/p... )

The thing to do is to capture these disruptive liars on tape and video and to broadcast their venom with full refutation.  If they are willing (i.e. have the courage) they should be interviewed on the record so their names can be attached to their actions.

The way to deal with abusive/negative free speech is to shed lots of very bright sunlight on it.

Cursing the darkness changes nothing much; we gotta light lots of bright sunny candles!

I always take video (0.00 / 0)
I have about 20 minutes worth, though editing, encoding and posting would take a but of time. I may save it for a rainy day.

I have this theory: (0.00 / 0)
In every young man's life, there is this one crystalline moment, something of a satori, a moment when life's rich truths are imparted unto them in a single point of complete  and unimpeachable clarity.

One of those moments, a crossing of the Rubicon in truth, is when a young man gets his ass well and truly stomped into a slightly damp pink spot for the immoderate words which issue from his running maw, to the dismay, disgust and disapproval of those around him.

I know I had mine, and I am a wiser and better person for it.

They, on the other hand, still have that river to cross. I expect they will cross it well before they ever breed.

I remember when there was such a thing as manners. Sic Transit Manners. Hello, punk thugs.

The nom de plume has a long and distinguished history.

Rainy days coming... (0.00 / 0)
at least according to the weather forecast.  Juan, do things with your videotape!  It should be widely viewed throughout NJ--those punks deserve their 15 minutes of fame.

"Do what you can, with what you have, where you are."  (Teddy Roosevelt)

I didn't know they were back (0.00 / 0)
from their field trip to campaign for Holy Joe.

I See my debut was a hit (0.00 / 0)
With my bullet proof vest, grey suit, and For Rent signs, I started the first of many appearances at Bob Menendez's rally with his far left wing supporters in East Brunswick.  Of course, many of you remember me from the event at Rutgers, where I ensured "my twin's" reputation as landlord was noticed by all.  Some of you forget that our side has successfully shaped the debate this year, and that really is the democrats fault.  The poll today shows that even if people believe that Tom Kean is a Republican, like W, he is still his own man, an Independent Reformer, and is likely to win in November.  IRAQ, IRAQ, IRAQ, won't win this election, because in NJ taxes are the NUMBER ONE issue. Not to mention the fact that Kean really does believe that Iraq needs a change of course, not a PULLOUT....but Cut and Run are the only two words your party understands. One Letter (W) and two words are the equation to victory.

Now in my defense:
First of all the FLIP FLOPS for the 1st day were a strategic choice, albeit unfashionalbe, but if they worked for John Kerry I figured I would give them a try.

Secondly you must admit that the similarity in looks is scary, and believe me on November 8th, I will do everything in my power to change that....until then I will be Boss Bob "And Weave".

Finally, you should really look at the facts of this case instead of partisan political rhetoric in place of legal statutes.  Would the rental deal have been that large of an issue if Bob was not a US Representative, ABSOLUTELY NOT, but the fact remains we should hold those elected IN BOTH PARTIES ACCOUNTABLE as Chris Christie has shown.  The Torch found it necessary to admit his corrupt behavior, which was equal to that of Menendez.

Democrats really should have but Rob Andrews or Dick Codey in that seat to begin with, you might have gained the Senate this year.

But you didn't and now its legally too late.

At least we will have someone in the Senate who will stand up to President Bush, and NOT cave in to the pressure of Hudson County, and Trenton entrenched corrupt politicians.

BTW Thugs...I thought you Doves hated that word (0.00 / 0)
I tend to remember in 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, and now in 2006, Democrats attacking the President for calling terrorist and dictators THUGS....but I guess its ok to call a group of peaceful protesters fighting an entrenched corrupt Senator a group of THUGS....I sure am glad that your party walks both sides of every word, well every issue for that matter
