Legislators want Whitman investigated and Kean Sr. keeps talking

by: Jason Springer

According to the Star Ledger...
Democrats from New York and New Jersey asked on Wednesday for an investigation that could lead to criminal charges against former Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Christie Whitman for breathing problems suffered by thousands after the Sept. 11 attacks.
Of course Tom Kean Sr., master of the 9/11 comment wouldn't pass up a chance to weigh in...
Former Sept. 11 Commission Chairman Thomas Kean, also a former Republican governor of New Jersey, said it was troubling that the Democratic congressmen "would misuse the heroic service of thousands for their political gain in an election season."
Um, correct me if i'm wrong, but wasnt Mr. Kean involved in that garbage on ABC with made up scenes creating his own heroes?  And lets see just who these democrats are and why they say they're really taking this step...
The congressmen — New York Reps. Jerrold Nadler and Anthony Weiner and New Jersey Rep. Bill Pascrell Jr. — said the health of their constituents, and not politics, was their concern.  In a letter to Attorney General Alberto Gonzales, the trio accused Whitman of "endangering the lives of thousands of people."
Well, these Congressmen are all in rather safe districts, so i don't see why they need the political boost.  I don't know if they'll get the investigation, but I'm glad someone is trying to get answers.

...that's what Tom Kean has become since his boy began his run for the Senate.

I have not lived in NJ to remember the "good old days" when he was in the governor's mansion. But it seems pretty clear that this guy is 1) NOT a moderate and 2) NOT the same guy he used to be.

I watched the video (0.00 / 0)
someone posted a while back with Kean Sr. discussing the Path to 9/11... he was very smooth, charming, self-deprecating, apparently very reasonable and even-handed.  I was impressed.

The objective facts -- and I watched the uncut controversial scenes online and read the 9/11 Report -- show that he was flat out lying the entire time.  I wonder if he changed at all, he is just good at seeming "good."

Let them start digging into the past affairs of The Governoretta and her husband and not stop. Please let her face some real accountability for SOMETHING.

My lord, the vacuous woman has, to date, been pressure-treated with teflon.

The nom de plume has a long and distinguished history.

It's become clear (0.00 / 0)
Kean Sr. is under the influence of Ku Klux Karl and will do whatever Karl tells him will get Kean Junior elected. Projection, thy name is Republican. Kean Sr. also left Jim Florio with a deep debt and he lied about that too. Just because he has that fake patrician affect doesn't mean he's an honorable man. Yes he had a good environmental record, but so did Nixon. It was the Zeitgeist.
What we have in Junior is the Paris Hilton of New Jersey politics, having lived off a trust fund and family name without ever doing anything of consequence, unless of course there's an embarassing video of him floating around in cyber space. OK, now get that image out of your head.

Restore democracy and the Constitution for which it stands.

So she lied--what else is new? (0.00 / 0)
Whitman has a history of telling, shall we say, less than the truth.  Example:  she insisted that her big income tax cuts would help NJ get its finances straight--and look at the mess she left us.  And we all saw her on TV saying that NYC's downtown air was "safe" after 9/11.  Keep on denying, Christine--every word is on tape.

As for Kean Senior, while I'm always reluctant to blame people for the sins of their children (or of their fathers), Senior's current activities reveal his real agenda--electing Junior, no matter how many lies he has to tell to do it.  See, Junior is just too jejeune (or sophomoric, if you prefer) to win on his own--so once again, Daddy is going to try to bail him out.

Now, the new Republican weapon of mass distraction is the smear campaign against Bob Menendez.  We have to make sure they don't get away with it!

We now have a Republican (0.00 / 0)
United States Attorney launching an investigation into a real estate deal involving a prominent Democrat. Sound familiar?

Restore democracy and the Constitution for which it stands.

Wrong Target by Bill Pascrell (0.00 / 0)
Christie Whitman is an easy target, but she's the wrong target on the WTC issue.  Wrong target on the facts and even more wrong from a political standpoint.  I only wish Bill Pascrell realized that.

Whitman said the air in lower Manhattan was "safe to breathe."  It turns out that the recently release memo from EPA makes it clear that she, and OSHA, also told Rudy Giuliani that the City must require workers on the "Pile" to wear masks or respirators.

There are a  lot of reasons why people didn't wear them - that was a pretty tough time with lots of frantic activity.

But, the point is, IT WAS RUDY "MAYBE I COULD BE PRESIDENT GIULIANI" who failed to meet his responsibilities and that's why so many Ground Zero workers are sick and dying.

The brain-dead knee-jerk "let's beat up Whitman" response is hard to hold back on -- especially for some male politicians -- but it is wrong and counterproductive to taking back the White House in this case.

I wishe Congressman pascrell and Nadler would start thinking with their heads instead of their knees!
