5 Great Reasons to Register for the DFA Training in NJ this Weekend

by: Jeff Gardner

Tue Aug 22, 2006 at 01:45:00 PM EDT

(Reason #11 - It's Saturday morning, it's raining - and you're reading this. (And you can register at the door) - promoted by noweeman)

The DFA Training Academy in NJ is finally here - this weekend! - and it promises to be an incredible two days of networking, learning, and fun you don't want to miss!

So, if you haven't RSVP'd yet, RSVP now!

Not convinced? Here's 5 great reasons for you to drop your plans, and go to the training this Saturday and Sunday, August 26-27:

1- You'll meet Jim Dean, and hear what DFA is doing here in NJ and nationwide!

2- You'll learn about organizing from the Center for Civic Responsibility, and be ready to join your local county committee to energize your local party!

3- You'll improve your blogging skills or just your knowledge of blogging with none other than the folks from right here at BlueJersey!

4- You'll hear from campaign insiders about Ned Lamont's race for the United State Senate! (note: Lamont is surging in the latest poll)

5- You'll study with pros from around the country, and network with candidates and campaign staff from here in New Jersey as we prepare ourselves for victory in November!

So, what are you waiting for? Register now!

Special Bonus: there's 5 MORE reasons below the fold!

You clicked for 5 more reasons? That shows you care. So, seriously, RSVP!

6- It's FREE to all NJ for Democracy members who signed up on DFA-Link before April 3rd (thanks to our winning a nationwide competition, and very reasonable for those who signed up after that date (maybe this should have been in the top 5?)

7- With over 100 people registered already, great networking opportunities abound - if you don't meet up with old friends, you're sure to make new ones!

8- You are working on or volunteering for a campaign this year, and you want to be as effective as possible.

9- You are running for office this year or next, and you need to know how to run a successful campaign from start to finish. (Um, or you want to send your staffers and volunteers to learn)

and last, but not least,...

10- Delicious baked goods at irresistable prices at the Bake Sale for Democracy!

Man, wish I wasn't away (0.00 / 0)
this weekend. I'd be there for sure.

Do we know what candidates will be attending, other than Ernie Garrett?

We'll miss you Sidd (4.00 / 1)
If you were free this weekend, you'd meet a whole bunch of candidates who are not E. Scott Garrett. Not just the names you always hear about, but great candidates like:

Viola Thomas-Hughes for Congress in NJ's 2nd District, and

Joey Novick for Mayor of Flemington, and

Abby Kalan for Township Committee in Millburn, and

Yes - a whole bunch more - from local races to Congressional races.

Viola Thomas-Hughes for Congress in NJ-2

Karen Gaffney for Hillsborough Township Committee (who also teaches at RVCC and advises the Social Justice Club, our hosts)

Thomas Andrea for Pequannock Council

Linda Stender for Congress will be speaking at Lunch. She's challenging Rep. Mike Ferguson for his seat in NJ-7 - a District quite likely to flip Democratic this year -  and has both the NJ for Democracy endorsement and the national DFA endorsement.

She'll be introduced by another nationally-endorsed DFA candidate, Ron Rice Jr., who just won his race for Newark City Council on the Cory Booker ticket.

We also think it's likely a United States Congressman or two will drop in...

It's not a particularly snappy signature, but here's what I think we need in the next NJ Democratic State Chair.

BAKE SALE FOR DEMOCRACY!
That's all you had to say, I'll be there! ;0)

It's raining? Send some to Salem County (0.00 / 0)
No rain makes for harsh conditions:  It's okay that my lawn is brown, but the farmers need rain.

Sorry I can't be there.

Having a great time in North Branch. Just came back from Cryan's Pub & found the internet stations in the hotel (since I didn't bring a laptop).

Looking forward to tomorrow's sessions!
