| As you've probably heard, Chris Christie & Mitt Romney got heckled on the stump in New Hampshire. A woman shouted out Mitt kills jobs! and then Christie kills jobs!
Christie's response was more contemptuous than he's been with previous hecklers, and considerably more insulting, more mocking than the situation called for. That said, Christie can "sweetheart" his hecklers all he wants, the accusations may land some blows, on Christie (who presides over a state with jobless figures higher than national average) and his man Mitt.
I want to point this out: Notice Romney did not step forward, take the mic from Christie and deal with the accusation - Mitt kills jobs! - directed at him. You know, the guy actually running for president standing behind the more compelling figure who isn't, the guy who the crowd was ostensibly all there for. We're going to hear a lot more about the greed side of Mitt Romney, directed at the very platform Romney's chosen launch his campaign from: his business background. This time, it's not even going to come from Democrats, because as you've probably heard, a pro-Newt Gingrich superPAC, fueled by $5M from a Vegas billionaire, is producing a 28-minute video that portrays Romney as a corporate raider who reaped "massive rewards" for himself and his investors by greedily looting a company, causing 1,700 working people their jobs.
In a debate setting, it's not clear Bain Capital is enough to alter the course of tomorrow's NH primary. Though it certainly is entertaining to watch Republicans point out the excesses of unfettered capitalism they usually turn a blind eye towards.
