Well, this is interesting.

From the Bergen County Democrats, and challenger John Hogan's campaign to challenge Republican Bergen Clerk Lisa Randall. Have to say, this inside-baseball version of the Democrats' complaint that Randall goofs off on the public's time in her $140,000/year job isn't likely to be seen by too many voters. But if the Bergen Dems can get this version, below in front of enough voters it might get interesting.

Incidentally, politickernj.com: it's Democratic Party, not Democrat Party and Democratic challenger, not Democrat challenger.  I'm sure that wasn't intentional, but it makes you look a little more GOP than you probably want people to think you are. Just saying.

Why Is This Even Legal??? (0.00 / 0)

Her work log claims that she was at work performing official duties....yet, unless the video is somehow fake, she was clearly using that time to enjoy her personal life.
If anyone did the same thing in the private sector they would be fired, especially in this job climate.....so why is there no oversight?

Can elected officials do ANYTHING they want in-between elections and still expect a paycheck?   Is there NO real accountability other than being voted out of office?  Does Boss Joe's SCOUS victory that got him off of a conviction mean that the concept of theft of service no longer applies in any way to NJ elected officials?

Why is there no agency or authority that can press a charge to hold her accountable?

Obviously, I'm being somewhat tongue in cheek, this IS NJ after all.   I suspect that if this level of scrutiny were applied to ALL public  officials that most of them would be caught pulling the same crap.

But still, this one got caught...and, as Rosie points out...this video is not likely to be seen by more than a handful of voters.......so if she manages to win re-election, there really SHOULD be some kind of official investigation and disciplinary action taken by a non-partisan government agency with the requisite authority.........and if no such agency exists, it should be created.

It's great that the BC Dems uncovered this....but if they had applied that much scrutiny to themselves over the last decade they might not have lost so much credibility with the voters.

Damn, I wish Loretta had stuck with the Real Bergen Democrats Movement and put up progressive/clean slates for EVERY elected office in the county.

Has someone from the Hogan campaign been stalking her with a camera?
