by: defendcom

Cryan was said to be courting the dem's for the speaker's position. Oliver has divided the party and needs to go.

From what I've read (0.00 / 0)
Although Cryan would certainly love the job, and I would love for him to get it, he seems to be pushing Vincent Prieto (D-32) of Hudson County as an alternative.  Apparently realizing he can't get the speakership as long as the Essex and Camden machines are against him, he's ready to join forces with Norcross to strike a blow at Adubato and Joe D, and get rid of Oliver.  But the Essex machine has threatened retaliation against Sweeney if that were to happen.

Isn't the byzantine world of New Jersey Democratic politics wonderful?

Retaliation? (0.00 / 0)
Even if Adubato et al were able to unite all of the State Senators in North Jersey and South Jersey against Sweeney, they would still only have 18 votes for Senate President.  Norcross could just as easily threaten to have his 5-6 State Senators unite with 16-17 Republican State Senators to keep Sweeney as Senate President or elect a Republican Senate President.  He could also make a similar arrangement in the State Assembly, aligning his 10-12 Democratic Assemblypersons with 32-34 Republican Assemblypersons to elect Louis Greenwald (or a Republican) Assembly Speaker.

My guess is that Christie would be just as happy to have Sweeney and Greenwald running the Legislature, mainting the facade of bipartisan rule.  It would also ensure that Norcross et al will continue to suppress the vote for whomever the Democratic gubernatorial candidate is in 2013.

Adubato and DiVincenzo can talk as tough as they want to, but they don't even control all of Newark, much less all of Essex County, much less anything outside of their fiefdom.  They were just fortunate that they had someone as controllable as Oliver to install as Assembly Speaker, but Norcross is smart enough to know that now is as good a time as any to switch partners, as it will serve to further divide the once firmly united North and Central Jersey blocs.

If he head's to Norcross for the job that'll end my interest in him.

Cryan the cryer (0.00 / 0)
Two weeks before an election this guy tries to start an insurrection?

Well he will get what he deserves, NOTHING!

Cryan is like a down electrical wire. Just sparking and floundering around. This guy has lost all credibility with this stunt.

Two weeks? (0.00 / 0)
This has been percolating since June.

Cryan represents the majority of Democrats in this state.  Christie the Crook, Oliver the Hack, and the bosses they take orders from, represent the minority.

Falling off the RL cliff (0.00 / 0)
Oliver has worked hard to get where she is right now.

She is no hack.

BUt you and your radical left rhetoric must denigrate everyone who does not agree with you.

hard work being a hack (0.00 / 0)
She came into office as part of an attempt to overthrow Nia Gill and Willis Edwards by the Adubato machine in 2003, which had taken over Essex County government after Joe DiVincenzo succeeded in winning the 2002 County Executive race.

She and Peter Eagler, who abandoned Gill and Edwards only to be abandoned by Gill and Oliver two years later when Tom Giblin was given his spot on the party line, were fortunate that Nia Gill did not have coattails when she was able to beat Leroy Jones in the primary election.

Since then, she has not accomplished much while in office except serve as Joe D's puppet.

Not Accomplished Much? (0.00 / 0)
The woman is Speaker of the Assembly!

As one of the leaders of the Radical Left on this site even you must recognize that as an accomplishment.

Has your personal dislike of moderates completely prejudiced you?

Please give the Speaker some respect!

Speaker of the Assembly (0.00 / 0)
So what?  You don't think hacks get to be in leadership position.  They're put there by the bosses because they know that they're toadies and will do whatever they want.  That Shelia Oliver.  She's working for Joe D (and Adubato) in more ways than one.

Only a Christiecrat like yourself can't see that.

Albio Sires... (0.00 / 0)
...was also Speaker of the Assembly and now he is a Congressman.  These are not accomplishments.  These are the fruits of playing the game of politics and destroying the democratic process in our state.

Coming from the leaders of the RL! (0.00 / 0)
I would of course expect the two leaders of the Radical Leftists to agree that being Speaker is a worthless accomplishment.

Do you two ever read your own venom?

A position is not an accomplishment (0.00 / 0)
What one does with that position is or is not an accomplishment and during Sheila Oliver's term as Speaker, all that she has done is be a puppet for the bosses.

I am sure that she feels accomplished, but considering how she became an Assemblyperson, she clearly has a low standard for that, so being Speaker is just one more no-show job that she has accepted.

[ Parent ]
Shame, but anyway... (0.00 / 0)
She is YOUR Speaker now and will be YOUR Speaker in the next session.

The insurgent Cryan will now be sitting in the back row somewhere.

A seat of honor (0.00 / 0)
Better there than with the Christiecrat leadership.  The back bench is where the majority of Democrats in this state are represented.

She's not MY speaker.  She's Joe D's speaker.

[ Parent ]
We can only hope... (0.00 / 0)
...that the bank bench is where the 2013 progressive revolution will be led.  If not, we will probably have Republican-DINO leadership for the rest of the decade.
