Kean has secured his place among the fleet-footed pastry people with his ducking, bobbing and weaving over the question of whether he continues to support President Bush's modest proposal to loot and pillage Social Security. He's supported it in the past, and since Dubya has indicated he's going to stage another raising party on the program if the GOP does well this year, it's a highly relevant question.

Good luck getting a straight answer out of him. Talking Points Memo has had a contest going for well over a week now, and the TPM poobah himself has tried without success to get an answer from Kean's campaign staff. Why not give it a shot yourself? You can drop him an e-mail, or call his Mountainside campaign office at 908-789-2100. And if that doesn't do the trick, you can always bake him a gingerbread man and send it to 187 Mill Lane Mountainside, N.J. 07092.
