She Sold Her Soul to the Devil

by: Couch Potato Politics

Wed Sep 07, 2011 at 02:50:16 PM EDT

Sheila Oliver is worse than we thought. She did it ALL in order to maintain her position.
This is the treachery and treason that has become the NJ Democratic Leadership.
A vote for these lying, treasonous turncoats is a vote for Christie and the death of New Jersey's middle class.
The article says it all. the Audio says it better!

Read the NJ.com Article here:
Christie agreed to help Oliver remain in power for her help passing public employee benefits overhaul, leaked audio reveals.

Particularly telling how the accusations of Kabuki Theatre Proved True (0.00 / 0)
In regards to Sweeney, Christie says: "And then finally this spring the Senate president came up with his own plan and we began to negotiate. And talk to each other. And during the day I'd go out on the stump and beat the bejeezus out of him and then late in the afternoon or evening we'd get together in my office alone and we made a promise to each other."

So it has been exposed as one giant charade perpetrated on the Public Workers of New Jersey and the key accomplices, acting ONLY in regards to maintaining their own leadership seats, Stephen Sweeney and Sheila Oliver.

Liars, Turncoats and Thieves.

If we don't stand together, we fall alone
That didn't last long.

Let it go already (0.00 / 0)
The whole Pension and health reform package was negotiated and there was give and take, bartering, and cross aisle support.

BIG SURPRISE!

It is over. Move on.

Sweeney will be Senate President. Oliver will remain speaker. Public worker unions still have the right to negotiate contracts. The pension fund is in better shape now . The Unions and the Governor are NEGOTIATING  the terms of the new Health care options for public workers.

This Oliver story is old and boring news.......

Negotiatied? (4.00 / 1)
You keep using that word but I don't think you really know what it means.

And the governor and the unions are NOT "NEGOTIATING  the terms of the new Health care options". No matter how many times you repeat it, it still won't be true.

If we don't stand together, we fall alone
That didn't last long.

Ask Hetty Rosenstein (0.00 / 0)
CWA Members are under the impression that Hetty Rosenstein is sitting at a table with the Governors people and " negotiating" the nine new health plans.

I am not sure how those negotiations are coming along but the union members are expecting their representatives to be fighting for them.

You're the only one pushing that story (0.00 / 0)
Because the rest of the people KNOW that your "Saint" Sweeney sold out public workers (and their unions) on the right to negotiate pensions and benefits.
And now we all learn that Oliver came on board because she was promised Christe and his minions that they would defend her against her own party for her betrayal.

You do realize that you repeating the same garbage, over and over and over, like a Fox News parrot, doesn't make it trie to anyone but you, right?

That "Committee" you vaguely refer to isn't a negotiating avenue, it's a stacked deck. Essentially the vote is split with the deciding vote sitting in the hands of a Christie appointee (State Treasurer). And, as we have all seen, anyone he appoints of has firing power over that doesn't do EXACTLY what he wants iss gone and replaced by a Christiebot so they are motivated to act as his heavy hand.

If we don't stand together, we fall alone
That didn't last long.

You know what's boring? (0.00 / 0)
You and your constant attempt to shut down discussion.  First Amendment?  Yeah, right.

Oliver should step down (4.00 / 1)
This is really outrageous. The NJ Democratic leaders are so desperate to cling to their positions that they'll cynically wheel & deal with the Republicans instead of doing the right thing. How about looking at the wishes of the party you proclaim to represent? If you can't do that, you oughtn't be their leader! Sheila Oliver should step down. She has proven herself too flexible to stand up for Democratic ideals.

Read further - Sweeney is just as culpable (0.00 / 0)
Christie and he had a true Kabuki Theatre gig going. Christie hammered him by day and Sweeney yelled back but after the camera's went off, they worked out the deal that would give Christie what he wanted and keep Sweeney and Oliver from getting ousted.

If we don't stand together, we fall alone
That didn't last long.

Sweeney Ousted? You joking? (0.00 / 0)
Sweeney never had a chance to be ousted.

Your dreams do not add up to reality.

Lie down with dogs . . . (4.00 / 3)
Oliver says that Christie is lying.   I hope that's true. I really do.

But the fact of the matter is that at a time when Christie was cutting school lunch programs, eliminating services for blind people, destroying women's health services, and eviscerating the public safety net, Sheila Oliver (and others) handed a man she now says may be mentally deranged, his greatest political victory.

Is it any wonder Christie was gleefully bragging to the Koch brothers and their wealthy supporters.

This was suspected at the time (0.00 / 0)
I have no doubt that assurances were given by Christie, Joe D and Adubato that if Oliver supported the sellout she'd have the votes to remIn speaker.

Wake UP (0.00 / 0)
Oliver and Sweeney are not so unusual. MANY Democrats think this way.  Are you people actually active in the party? I hear these kind of Anti-Labor comments all the time from active Dem party people at Dem events who delude themselves into saying they are LIBERAL but that Walmart is good for americans, or that Reagan was right to fire the Air Traffic Controllers, or that public workers have it too cushy and needed to be dealt with.
The point here is not that Oliver shouldn't step down.  She should! But WHO will take her place, hmm?  The farm team for the Dems has people who are just as bad.  Anti tax, anti labor folk who's tenuous hold to Dem principles is a few social issues.
We cant just stop at getting rid of Oliver.  The whole party, from the very bottom needs a new shot of real Democratic values.  Are YOU on the Committee?  Does your town have any empty slots??   GET it going.  Yesterday was not too soon.
