Run, Christie, Run. Please run.

by: Adam L

Thu Aug 18, 2011 at 02:49:05 PM EDT

Despite the "he is, no he isn't" speculation from this week as well as the downgrade of NJ's credit rating that happened this week, I am sure that we haven't heard the last of the "will he should he can he is he running" chatter - especially given the current field of Republican Presidential candidates.

And to that, I say this:

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE run for President, Governor.

Adam L :: Run, Christie, Run. Please run.
The NJ economy and downgrade notwithstanding, this is a guy whose actions and policies and entire career personifies exactly what so many people in this country hate and are angry at.  Not only have I already laid out the 46 million ways that he has lied, finger pointed, dropped the ball, bought and ducked out of the benefit of the doubt,he is a loud mouthed Northeast Karl Rove/George W. Bush protégée who has lied repeatedly throughout the years (yes, he has) and enriched the super rich at the expense of women, children, rape victims, teachers, working class, commuters, seniors and just about everyone who isn't part of his pay-to-play game.

And a hot head who would put John McCain to shame.  Does anyone NOT think that the other ruthless Republican candidates will let his brand of BS steamroll them without "digging" (I say digging although we have been on top of it here at Blue Jersey for years now) up all of his skeletons and throwing all of his hypocrisy, lies and finger pointing back in his face?  Will the lagging New Jersey economy and his pig headed decisions, cover ups and "do as I say, not as I do" actions NOT be front and center?

His running for President would be phenomenal.  It may actually force some of the Christiecrats here in NJ to realize that they can do what they were elected to do or go down with him.  It could very well put an end to the nightmarish ascent to political power based at least in part on grift of a man who consists of hate, venom, a short fuse and a complex that makes him lash out the way he does.

It would be the best thing we could hope for.

Or... (0.00 / 0)
...HE COULD BE ELECTED PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES!!!!!

Call me crazy, but I think that if President Obama continues to allow the Republicans to run the country and its economy into the ground, he will take the blame for it and lose next November to any Republican nominee not named Michelle Bachmann or Sarah Palin regardless of how much money he raises or how good his speeches are.

If progressives and Democrats were smart, we would be organizing to get Democrats and independents to vote in the Republican caucuses and primaries and get Bachmann the nomination and we wouldn't want Christie anywhere near the Presidential nomination process.

It is bad enough that Christie is ruining our state.  Having him as President would only make matters worse.  Be careful what you wish for.

Not with Christie's skeletons. (4.00 / 1)
The diary argues that Christie's skeletons would be exposed nationally if he ran in the Republican primary. He wouldn't get near the nomination, let alone the presidency. His run would cause his political downfall. Maybe his resignation.

Not so sure (0.00 / 0)
Dubya's National Guard skeletons only got Dan Rather fired.

Yes, but (4.00 / 1)
The machine that got Bush the nomination, s elected and reselected via fraud isn't there for Christie.  "records lost" by others when Poppa Bush's people did it for dubya isn't the the same as "records covered up" when it is Christies office doing it to protect himself.

Scott Garrett - on the wrong side of, well, everything.

No way he gets the nomination (0.00 / 0)
Same things were said about Rudy, although Christie is more politically astute.  He has way WAY more flaws and would get demolished in the primaries by the competition.  If he loses his shit on Bachmann or Palin or another high profile female Republican, forget it.

He is a massive fraud and people here weren't paying any attention against Corzine but the Village pundits don't elect a President or even a nominee, no matter how hard they try.

Scott Garrett - on the wrong side of, well, everything.

Anyone... (0.00 / 0)
...who runs for the GOP nomination could win it.  The only thing that we need to concern ourselves with is whether or not a prospective GOP nominee can beat Obama if he continues to allow the Republicans to wreck it, and at the moment, I think that includes any of them except for Bachmann or Palin (if she runs).

Skeletons and any other minutiae that we might take seriously go over the heads of your average voter.  Jobs are the only thing that will matter next November and if the unemployment rate is 8% or more, Obama will most likely lose to whomever the GOP nominates, so be careful what you wish for.

The only people, besides Plutocrats, who want Christie to be president... (0.00 / 0)
are members of the NJ Press Corpse.

The media sets the narrative (0.00 / 0)
and ultimately chooses the "elected" leaders. As long as we rely on defective voting machines that can be hacked by a nine year old wanting to play Pac Man, our elections are window dressing.
Our elected officials only do the bidding for the highest bidders thanks to a flawed Supreme Court Decision, Citizens United Not Timid.
Neither Christie nor Humpty Dumpty will act in the voters' best interests. The Wall Street shysters who sacked the economy and looted the Treasury determine the laws of the land and government policy. The government overseers allow them to game the system for the commensurate kickbacks and money sent to secret off-shore tax havens.
In Washington or Trenton, elected officials only follow the orders of the wealthy elites. The voters on the other hand........

Restore democracy and the Constitution for which it stands.
