Whose Puppets? (0.00 / 0)
Actually, with the exception of Stack - who really is a Christie puppet - and possibly Ruiz, these are all puppets of George E. Norcross III. He hand picked all of these people and they swore allegiance to him (in a secret candle-lit ceremony practically). Guy's a class AAA creep. Now, Norcross and Christie are working together on a shared "education reform" goal to profit Norcross, and Sweeney is doing Norcross' bidding so he can profit even more on healthcare than he has been.

LOL. You have the conspiracy all figured out! (0.00 / 0)
Who killed Kennedy?

Moderate Democrats can think for themselves.

Time to move on to other issues.

Let's work to get a fair budget, this pension/health thing is over.

You're pretty blind to reality (0.00 / 0)
Maybe you should do a little research there, Chris.

"Given the choice... (0.00 / 0)
...between a Republican and someone who acts like a Republican, people will vote for the real Republican all the time"
- Harry S Truman

Blog: Pick's Place

Which is the entire problem. (0.00 / 0)
Hence Chris Christie -- Governor

[ Parent ]
If between a DINO and a Republican... (0.00 / 0)
... there's no appreciable difference, why vote for the DINO? While that was not the case in the gubernatorial election (I did vote), it's much harder to discern a difference in the case of many Democratic legislators. If the best argument for voting for a Democrat is "Vote for me or it could be (slightly) worse" I'd say that's not exactly the sort of strategy that gets people to go out to vote on a cold November day. But what do I know? I'm just a citizen.

[ Parent ]
You missed my point - (0.00 / 0)
I didn't say anyone should vote for the DINO. I said they shouldn't stay home, which is in response to your original post. I agree with jeffpickens: better to vote for the devil you know than the one you don't, or that turned on you.

I say reward these DINOs by giving the (R)s the Senate. That'll teach the Assembly to act like real Democrats, and maybe the rest of the Christie agenda will get stopped cold in its tracks (what hasn't been accomplished already, that is).

[ Parent ]
That's not why Christie won (0.00 / 0)
Corzine wasn't the greatest, but the Democratic base turned out for him.  What they shouldn't turn out for is for disloyal Democrats like Sweeney and Co.

[ Parent ]
Exactly (0.00 / 0)
They should turn out for the Republicans in just enough districts to swing the Senate to them. Sweeney's ignominious Senate Presidency will come to an end, and so will George Norcross' control over it (unless he can manage to control the (R)s too, which is looking increasingly likely in a state where everyone is for sale).

[ Parent ]
Getting them to dump Sweeney as leader (0.00 / 0)
is a better solution.

Besides, unless a large number of Democrats did that, there's now way to switch control given the realities of the districts drawn.  There are only really three seats which the Democrats might lose:  2, 14 and 38.  Whelan's probably a goner, and deserves to be one after yesterday's vote.  Gordon could lose, but it's not likely.  And Greenstein's one of the best Democrats in the caucus.  Why would progressives want her to lose?  Similarly, voting against Dick Codey would be an instance of cutting your nose off to spite your face.

So the best solution is to pressure the Democratic caucus to oust Sweeney as leader (same with Oliver in the assembly).

[ Parent ]
You cannot be serious (0.00 / 0)
What you see now is what you will see for the next two years.

Democratic State Senate

Democratic Assembly.

Oliver and Sweeney protecting ALL the people from a potential Wisconson if the GOP took over.

Pension and Health care are history. Time to promote a good, fair budget. Let us all move on together ......

That's one thing I might agree with you on.

If we don't stand together, we fall alone
That didn't last long.

"Divide et impera," (0.00 / 0)
says, Christophorus Christius (no, I won't add maximus)

(As my snooty, but fairly bright, prof. used to remind the class, that's divide and rule--not conquer.)

It must be very easy to be a Repub!
