Was Christie ever a Democrat? (0.00 / 0)

Maybe this isn't "dirt" (unless you're a teabagger) but I used to live in Morris County when Christie was a freeholder and I recall during that time Christie was threatening to switch parties and run as a Democrat for State Senator, the seat now held by Tony Bucco.  However, I never heard anything about it when he ran against Steve Lonegan in the 2009 GOP primary, and one would think Lonegan would make it an issue.  Does anyone have any info about this?
