Dawn Addiego. South Jersey's biggest hypocrite

by: Jay Lassiter

"5 BurlCo town seek tax hikes"

If you haven't heard the news that Olympic champ Carl Lewis is running for NJ Senate then, well, welcome back to the Planet. Because the race in NJ's 8th district pitting challenger Lewis against GOP incumbent Dawn Addiego is generating tons of curiosity and intrigue!

(Quick note, because Addiego was given her seat by party bosses this will be the first Senate run for both candidates. So you're free to place quote marks around the term incumbent in Addiego's case.)

more below...

Jay Lassiter :: Dawn Addiego. South Jersey's biggest hypocrite
Anyway, while Dawn's political sugar daddies are off trying to get Lewis thrown off the ballot Dawn Addiego is probably at an undisclosed location trying to figure out WTF she's going to say to the Governor about this.

Turns out, four towns in Addiego's district will far exceed Chris Christie's much-vaunted 2% property tax cap (which is pretty rich considering the GOP gets such a hard on talking about cutting taxes all the time.) To make things worse, Burlington Co. -- dominated by a Republican clowncar Machine -- is the most prolific violator of the cap from among NJ's 21 counties:

Lisa Ryan, spokeswoman for the state Department of Community Affairs, said Burlington County has the most cap referendums of any of the 21 counties. Statewide, she said there are only 14 referendums because municipalities have really tried to limit increases to comply with the state cap imposed by the Christie administration in Trenton.
Ladies and gents, that's your BurlCo. By coronating their candidate and working so hard to throw ours out of the race, the GOP's doing its damnedest to make all the decisions for BurlCo voters. And in light of BurlCo's chronic ProptaxCap violations, the only real choice many voters get is whether to pay more or to get less.

How lame is that?
