| It's been 14 months of high-tension public policy since Dr. Poonam Alaigh became Christie's Heath Commissioner - and also his front line against sometimes-angry advocates for a more sane, productive medical marijuana program than the governor had in mind, and for restoring funding that didn't leave thousands of New Jersey women without needed health services.
Dr. Alaigh was the interpreter for Chris Christie's policies in both. Is that why she's resigning? That news came down late tonight, and nobody's quite sure why she's going. The news leaked out tonight, and she's expected to make the resignation public tomorrow, citing "personal reasons".
New Jersey has too few women in positions of authority. Shoot me if I hope she's replaced with another woman in that job. Oh, and a more decent set of health priorities out of the governor's office would also be welcome. You know, as long as I'm wishing for things. |
