I've Never Been Among So Many Heroes at One Time

by: deciminyan

Last week's rally in Trenton was soggy. Today's was downright cold. But for anyone standing among thousands of firemen, police, corrections officers, emergency response personnel, and even a handful of supporting teachers, the atmosphere was electric. Speakers were union leaders and just about any Democratic politician in the State House - with one exception.

You would think that this crowd would portray Chris Christie as the bogeyman - and you would not be disappointed. But the overriding theme was expressed in the repeated chants of "Where's Sweeney?"

Senate President Steve Sweeney's capitulation to the anti-union interests was foremost among the concerns of the endless sea of blue uniformed men and women in front of the State House.

The photos tell the rest of the story.  Click here for more photos.

What did they want? (0.00 / 0)
The purpose of the rally was to ????

A. Get members rehired
B. Not pay any additional money
   for health care
C. Bash Christie
D. Bash Sweeney
E. Protect Collective Bargaining rights that are currently not being attacked.
F. Not reform the pension fund
G. All of the above

Not being there I can only ask, did they accomplish anything ?

Are they lobbying against S2718 ,the Sweeney/Beck health care bill?

Are they for tax increases ?

Please, someone tell me why they were out in the cold today.

That helps (0.00 / 0)
That was not one of the choices.

Actual answers (0.00 / 0)
are never any of the Tea bag choices.

As scarce as truth is, the supply has always been in excess of the demand.

Again, you are either mistaken or lying (0.00 / 0)
Just one example:
E. Protect Collective Bargaining rights that are currently not being attacked.
You're beloved Sweeney wants to Legislate a piece of collective barging which is an ATTACK on collective bargaining.

B. Not pay any additional money for health care
Well, actually, they HAVE given more and are willing to TALK (bargain) about giving more, just not having it LEGISLATED or be villified for wanting to TALK about it.

F. Not reform the pension fund
Actually, they would like to be PAID BACK before Christie starts dicating terms from the press and townhalls. He is holding the states DEBT to workers HOSTAGE, Illegally!!

Try dealing in realities before you start playing the Republican "distraction from facts with fantasy" game.

If we don't stand together, we fall alone
That didn't last long.

"Bash Sweeney" (0.00 / 0)
You say that as if it were a bad thing.

[ Parent ]
Christie's lying letter (4.00 / 1)
Maybe Christie's campaign letter in which he lied about not attacking their benfefits had something to do with it?  Or maybe they reject your notion that people should not demonstrate, but just shut their mouths while Christie and Sweeney bargain away their rights and benefits.
