The Route One Elevator

by: Juan Melli

Tue Jun 20, 2006 at 02:53:36 PM EDT

Last week, Scott Shields wrote about a meeting of the New Jersey Association of Counties where Tom Kean Jr first was too afraid to share the stage with Senator Menendez and later ran away from reporters. He tried to, anyway. In his scramble to avoid the press, Kean Jr ran into an elevator, though a pack of reporters followed him. Realizing that exit route wouldn't work, he got out of the elevator a minute later - on the same floor.

Now there's video for your viewing pleasure:

I know the pressure was on... (0.00 / 0)
with all those cameras and reporters in his face on the elevator, but, his inability to think on his feet and develop any sort of response is absolutely shocking to me.

From his earliest days in Union City, Bob Menendez has proven that he very well equipped to handle the pressure that comes with being in a postion to make decsicions which are critical to the future of our country on a daily basis.

Maybe in time Tom Kean Jr. will develop what it takes...clearly now he doesn't have it!

Like that elevator... (4.00 / 2)
Junior's campaign is going nowhere.

He may be a Tom Kean Junior... (0.00 / 0)
but he's no Tom Kean.  The apple didn't stay close enough to the tree in this case.  Whatever else I may think of Tom Kean Senior, he could handle situations and didn't run away from them.  Junior isn't going to be able to rely on the voters confusing him with his father if he keeps doing this stuff.

Frozen Smile; Like a Deer in the Headlights (4.00 / 1)
One could almost feel sorry for poor Tom; but the Republican MO that is at the core of their important campaigns is such a vicious and ugly thing that, if he really is a "nice guy", then he should be ashamed and embarrassed at what is being done in his name.

In this bit of video it appears he is pleading ignorance...he can't get away with that tactic for long.

Why the elevator? (0.00 / 0)
Why would junior hide in an elevator when he could have just put his hands in front of his face to become invisible? That's what my little nephews do - and it works great!
