Now we get to pretend we're in high school and see who's sitting together.

It's not embargoed this year, I suppose because it's hopeless in the era of internet.

Seating (4.00 / 2)
Last year, I felt a sense of pride seeing Nancy Pelosi sitting behind the President. This year I am profoundly sad to see John Boehner in that seat.

I'm here in noisy Brooklyn (4.00 / 1)
This is a Living Liberally event, and it's crazy crowded and noisy in here. My wireless card is monstrously slow here, but here's what it looks like here, in one part of this bar (where the drink special is fab $5 Margaritas:

Oh cool (0.00 / 0)

the Way Forward (0.00 / 0)
is clear.
Obama gave some common sense consessions and ideas to the Republicans with Tort Reform, spending cuts and spending freezes but I have the feeling the Repubs will focus negatively on gay soldiers, healthcare reform improvements and not repeals and removing the tax cuts in the wealthiest because they don't understand compromise and joint effort.

Weak rebuttal. (0.00 / 0)
The Bobbi Jindal curse lives on.
It is as if Rep. Ryan watched a speech nobody else saw and rebutted topics that Obama owned and layed the best way forward on.
How can he rebut healthcare for ALL, new technology and job building in energy and research and not looking like he's just complaining to complain?

If we don't stand together, we fall alone

If we don't stand together, we fall alone
That didn't last long.

Did it make Christie Twinge (0.00 / 0)

Remarks about the speech lacking "Substance" are just partisan whining. (0.00 / 0)
No SOTU is a "detail" road map. It is the annual "Investor Call" in which the President uses an hour or so to gather us all around the hearth, remind us of our potential and bullet point his intentions for the coming year.
Were he to get down and dirty and start devling into the "Substance" that so many keep whining that he missed most would have shut the broadcast off and spent the following days complaining he was too "inetellectual" or overly detailed and ...that he was hiding a lack of a plan behind minutae and political hyperbole.
People who disagree with the President based on poarty ideology will never see hope or wisdom because they aren't allowed to. It would be like questioning religious dogma.

If we don't stand together, we fall alone
That didn't last long.
