Runyan spending the little money he has attacking Murphy

by: Jason Springer

Something happened on the way to Jon Runyan self funding a campaign flush with cash and cruising to a challenge against John Adler in November. With his fundraising numbers lagging and endorsements going against him, Jon Runyan is attacking the primary opponent. Here's the latest straight negative mailer Runyan sent to voters against Murphy:

It's funny that the candidate who held a press conference to clean out his own closet is attacking someone else's problems. It's unlikely Murphy, who has only raised $12,000 total actually could pull of a victory.  But the fact that Runyan has had to spend precious resources in a primary they never expected to have on defining his opponent and not himself is certainly something to take note of. So much for that clear path leaving a strong candidate for the general.

Unbelievable (4.00 / 1)
I think the Inquirer endorsement really shook them up.  I don't know if there are Runyan signs in the Burlco portion of the district, but in Ocean it looks as if Gilmore won't lift a finger to help Runyan with any kind of coordinated expenditure.

TROOC, otoh, is putting up signs all over featuring their candidates for freeloader as well as Justin Murphy.  It's a coordinated expenditure and I expect TROOC is putting up the money for it.

Regardless who wins it looks as if the GOP will have the two weakest candidates thery could possibly have come up with.  And this is like the last chance they'll ever have of defeating Adler since Obama will be at the top of the ticket in 2012.

What's so ironic is that with two weak opponents Adler need not have voted against HCR to position himself as a centrist.  Instead all he fif was antagonize his own base.

I haven't seen any (0.00 / 0)
Runyan signs in the Burlco part of the district, but Murphy ones are all over.  I hear he put his money into that and not mail.

Campaign advisors gotta get paid (0.00 / 0)
This mailer looks like the gifted handiwork of Ruynan's advisor Chris Russell who is  getting plenty of add ons on top of his billable hours with Runyan.
