Gooch and Sipprelle have more COH than Runyan has raised total

by: Jason Springer

We know Jon Runyan doesn't appear at many events, but he can't use the excuse that he's been raising money because certainly isn't setting the world on fire with his fundraising effort:
Third Congressional District candidate Jon Runyan reports $135,000 cash on hand, according to campaign consultant Chris Russell.

It's $2,000 less than what he finished the quarter with exactly a month and a half ago. Between then and now he reported raising just over $75,000.

The former NFL offensive lineman has raised a total of $226,000, including $100,000 of his own money.

Compare that haul to another Republican self financing hopeful challenging a Democratic Incubment in Diane Gooch:
Sixth Congressional District Republican candidate Diane Gooch has nearly $250,000 in her campaign warchest, according to the Federal Election Commission.

Gooch spokeswoman Toni Angelini said over 300 people from the 6th District have contributed over $110,000 to the GOP establishment candidate.

And the challenger to Rush Holt in the 12th District, Scott Sipprelle has raised over $630,000 and has $423,901 on hand. The Republican Party better hope that Runyan opens up his own bank account because it doesn't appear he's selling himself to donors very well. Runyan also has had to pay some attention to his primary opponent Justin Murphy, who just yesterday got the Right to Life Endorsement. In addition, John Adler had $1.8 million on hand as this filing. Runyan needs to either get on the phones or break out the checkbook.

Inquirer endorsement (0.00 / 0)
That Inquirer endorsement of Justin Murphy was like leprosy to big time campaign donors.

This is a major embarrassment to BurlCo boss Bill Layton and his stooge Chris Russell who recruited this clown.  Gilmore wins either way.  If Runyan wins somehow Gilmore will claim credit for delivering Ocean County.  If he loses Layton gets blamed and Gilmore becomes undisputed boss of South Jersey.
