| We don't usually make note of who gets what job in the whirl that is Trentonia. But for the past few weeks and months, we've been itchy to find out who would be installed as the new President of New Jersey Policy Perspective.
And congratulations to Deborah Howlett, who's just been announced, and starts the job on Monday.
Deborah was Director of Communications for Gov. Corzine, and was a player in his administration's efforts to pass Marriage Equality. She comes from the world of writing, and reporting, as an award-winning political reporter for the Star Ledger, and before that several roles at USA Today. And was nominated for a Pulitizer Prize in 1996.
In an email to us a few minutes ago, Deb said she was "thrilled to take up what Jon Shure started." I'm glad of that - Blue Jersey had a lively relationship with Shure, who founded NJPP 12 years ago (he now studies State Fiscal Policy at Center on Budget and Policy Priorities in D.C.). While running NJPP, Jon Shure was a frequent diarist here at Blue Jersey.
