When transparency means 38 = 41

For someone who was going to usher in a new era of transparency, the Governor isn't always willing to tell the whole story. Late Monday, the Governor's office put out a press release announcing 38 nominations that he was sending to the Senate for advice and consent. Unfortunately, that wasn't a complete list though and Michael Symons got the part of the story the Governor wasn't telling:
Among the moves were a few not included on a news release issued Monday evening by Christie's office, including three appointments to the state Election Law Enforcement Commission.

Both Democrats are being replaced - ELEC chairwoman Jerry Fitzgerald English, a former state senator, and commissioner Albert Burstein, a former assemblyman. They're being replaced by Walter Timpone, a former assistant United States attorney who was nearly Christie's right-hand man at the federal prosecutor's office before trouble arose because of a meeting he held with Senator Robert G. Torricelli while representing a man whom prosecutors were trying to recruit as a confidential informer against the senator; and Lawrence Weiss, a former Superior Court judge now of counsel at Dughi & Hewit, Christie's former law firm. (They weren't there at the same time.)

Blue Jersey doesn't even get the press releases from the official govnews account anymore. We received them from the previous administration regularly and have made requests, but alas we only get the spin from Christie's blogger, not the releases from the press secretary.

He's already said he's not good at math, but isn't it convenient that he neglected to include the changes he was making at ELEC. Especially when they are someone from Christie's old law firm and his former right hand man in the US Attorneys office, who has had his own issues in the past. So glad we have all of this transparency going on from the Governor.
