Democrats Putting Haledon First

Thanks for writing, Mayor. Promoted from the diaries by Rosi

Earlier this week I was proud to stand with Congressman Bill Pascrell to highlight more than $5 million dollars being spent in Haledon from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act to modernize our sewers, improve our infrastructure, and make Haledon's water supply cleaner.

The Manchester Utilities Authority began receiving monthly installments of a $3.7 million sub-grant from the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund. The fund is part of the federal stimulus package distributed through the state Department of Environmental Protection and will ensure the water quality is high in Haledon. It was a great day for Haledon and another great step forward for our community.

As the Mayor of Haledon over the last 4 years we have seen many improvements.  We've taken an outside the box approach to solving problems, responsibly dealing with our budget, and an eye towards always putting the residents of Haledon first.  I am proud to announce the launching of my new campaign website - www.DomenickStampone.com - for the upcoming June Primary campaign.  This site will serve as a hub of information, resources, and updates from the campaign trail as we continue our goal of improving Haledon.

Domenick Stampone :: Democrats Putting Haledon First
I am honored to run with a talented group of council candidates. For the past 6 years, my friend Council President Maha Kandis and I have always fought to put Haledon first.  I look forward to continuing this progress so we can deliver even more positive change. This year, two fresh faces round out our ticket. Mounir Almaita is a Social Studies teacher, a member of the Manchester Regional Board of Education and President of the Haledon Democrats. Michael Johnson is a decorated detective with the Paterson police force who will bring a new energy and deep understanding of how to keep our community safe and secure. Together, we will build upon the accomplishments of the past four years and move Haledon into a new decade.

This website will play an important role in our campaign - keeping voters and grassroots activists up-to-date on events and serving as a medium to communicate with Haledon residents.  My administration has been at the forefront of implementing progressive policies on the local level - enacting an anti-nepotism hiring practice for borough employees and holding the line on our municipal budget by keeping spending at 2006 levels.

Additionally, I was proud to be one of the original 200 signers of the letter urging the New Jersey State Legislature to pass Marriage Equality.  As Mayor, one of my most rewarding duties is performing marriages. After the Civil Union bill passed, I was one of the only Mayors in the greater Passaic County area performing civil unions, and I look forward to the day when everyone is afforded their right to marriage.

In the upcoming months I hope I can count on your support as we continue to engage voters throughout Haledon. Blue Jersey is a great organizing tool for progressives throughout the State and we hope to use this site to deliver victory on June 8th.  Again, I hope everyone will visit www.DomenickStampone.com to learn more about our race, the progress being made, and why we think electing progressive Democrats is important on the local level.
