Quote of the Day: "They will be forced to gas up the chainsaw"

by: Jason Springer

Tue Mar 16, 2010 at 05:55:50 PM EDT

There was plenty of reaction to the Governor's budget address, but I'm going to have to give the nod to Paul Sarlo for the creative quote of the day:
"At this rate, towns and school boards will have to make indiscriminate cuts to education and essential services.  Rather than wait around for a toolbox, they will be forced to gas up a chainsaw, light some dynamite and find a backhoe to clear the rubble.
Let the debate over the budget begin.

Christie gets it (0.00 / 0)
You can't pay what you do not have. The problem for Christie is a declining tax base, loss of population, declining property values, and most importantly a pension plan that's basically bankrupt .Christie realizes that we must  quit paying the unproductive and stop taxing the productive .

If you don't tax the productive, (0.00 / 0)

you won't be getting any revenue.   So I think you need to rethink your philosophy here.

Thank you, Christy Todd Whitman (4.00 / 2)
pension plan that's basically bankrupt

BTW if you want a modern economy, someone has to educate the workforce.  And I'm afraid private schools cannot put out enough high-tech workers to replace those lost to spending cuts in the public system.

You must be a millionaire (0.00 / 0)
He gets it so well that the middle, working and lower income people and senior citiznes are paying for milionaire tax cuts!  We all should feel the pain, if necessary, including high income people.

The question is, "What is Sarlo going to do about it?

"The work goes on, the cause endures, the hope still lives, and the dream shall never die." - Sen. Ted Kennedy
