Christie's Budget Has More Spending than Corzine's, Provides Fewer Services

by: vmars

So, New Jersey, you wanted change.  You bought in to the Chris Christie the superhero avenger theme.  Well, this is what you get for it: his first budget does the following:
  • Increases spending to $29.2 billion, more than Corzine's last budget;
  • Takes about $600 in property tax rebate out of every middle-class homeowner's pocket;
  • Reduces aid to schools and towns which will increase your property taxes;
  • Reduces services to the public and under-funds the pension;
  • Reduces taxes for the rich.

Christie blusters a good game, but what you are getting is what we said you were getting here at BJ for years -- George Bush's acolyte.

Corzine was a political dud, sure.  But he increased aid to schools and towns while reducing the size of the budget.  Christie does the exact opposite.

Voting for change is stupid.  You have to vote for the right change.  NJ blew it last November, and we will suffer the consequences.

Comparision? (0.00 / 0)
So can anyone provide a comparison? Since it provides so many cuts in rebates and school & town aid, where does it increase spending in order to find up with a higher total?

Is any data available?

Corzine's budget was 31.4 bill (0.00 / 0)
  Corzine never included $2.4 billion in his budget total but were part of the overall spending by the state....but whatever numbers he couldn't fudge he would just add to our debt ....His treasuer admited as much

Republicans. Defending higher taxes. (0.00 / 0)
Hysterical.

It's going to be a riot watching you guys twist yourself into boardwalk-sized pretzels defending this Bushie.

As scarce as truth is, the supply has always been in excess of the demand.

Details? (4.00 / 1)
Speedkillsu, I've tried to research this and the one thing I found was that Corzine's claim that his last budget was less than this first wasn't accurate and should have been 2.4 billion different.

An argument perhaps, but not one that said that he spent 2.4 billion more than claimed.

Perhaps my searching skills just aren't up to snuff at this time of night, so could you provide with a source on your claim?

And nonetheless, I would still like to see a comparison of the budgets.

P.S. You do realize that Christie's budget puts us deeper in debt by the tune of a $3 billion deferral of pension obligations, right? Don't condemn in Corzine the faults you forgive in Christie.
