Blue Jersey Radio Talks Corruption - LIVE Tonight at 8:00 p.m.

by: Jeff Gardner

Tue Feb 16, 2010 at 03:00:00 PM EST

Each week, Blue Jersey Radio streams LIVE with New Jersey's latest political buzz, interviews with newsmakers, and your stimulating calls.

Last week: Our guest was Congressman Donald M. Payne, NJ-10, the new Chair of the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation, who shared all sorts of goodies (including announcing on-air his intention to co-sponsor the Fair Elections Now Act). The Congressman was a great guest, and well worth another listen.

But, this week: we go from the good, to the bad and the ugly. On the heels of the Beldini verdict in Jersey City, we're talking corruption with longtime Blue Jersey contributor, Jack R. Bohrer (aka ""JRB"), whose recent series in The Jersey City Independent covering that trial - the first of many arising from last summer's huge sting - was as complete a record of the trial as you're likely to read. We'll hear first-hand what that trial looked and sounded like, and get JRB's insight into how future corruption trials might shape up.

Have your own concerns about corruption in New Jersey? Drop your comments, questions and concerns down below, then tune in and join the conversation!

It's all LIVE, tonight at 8:00 p.m.

And, of course - you can always give us a call and have your say. That number again is: 646-652-2773.

Talk to you then!

my question for Jack (4.00 / 2)
Knowing the doubts you expressed last year, has covering the trial restored your faith in the Democratic Party?

Solomon Dwek (4.00 / 2)

With hindsight some of us might have wished that Representative Payne had been asked about the excessive waste of funds in the CBC foundation, as later written about in the NY Times. Nonetheless, this is an issue I trust he will address in a forthright manner.

Regarding tonight it would be interesting to hear more about the "larger than life" character of Solomon Dwek and how good the reporter feels Dwek will be as a witness in future cases.

"The work goes on, the cause endures, the hope still lives, and the dream shall never die." - Sen. Ted Kennedy

Question re: Limits on power (0.00 / 0)
Can anybody give us a brief rundown of the limits of gubernatorial powers?

I'm wondering whether Christie has the legal authority to take the actions he has, i.e., executive orders, promising tax breaks, changes in school funding...

I thought budget items were the province of the legislature.

Thank for coming on JRB (4.00 / 1)
We really enjoyed your analysis and thanks to our readers for the questions.

Oh and thanks (4.00 / 1)
to JRB's Aunt for joining us as well.
