by: Hopeful

New Jersey Assembly Democrats have put out a video response to Governor Christie's budget cuts. I posted the written responses earlier, but there's something to be said for seeing them speak:

well done! (4.00 / 1)
The showing of some spine and the quick response augurs well for the new Assembly Dem leadership getting stuff done and resisting being walked all over by Christie. Plus they have someone who can make videos!

This Sounds Encouraging..... (4.00 / 1)
......but it has to be backed up with an alternative legislative agenda that get's done what needs to be done; but does it in a way that, as much as is possible, only hurts folks/interests that can afford to take the hit.

Also, Democrats need to go over the line by line to make every legitimate cut possible......with no concern for ANYBODY'S pet projects or political friendships.......it they can actually BE fiscally conservative and still protect the interests of ordinary people then that gives them the moral/intellectual high ground to "just say no" to Chris Christie while offering rea; and viable alternatives

The Dems must not be cowed by the new big bully on the block.  If that means over riding his vetos and/or taking him to court if he oversteps his bounds, then so be it.

Let the Republicans know that they will be held accountable at the polls for blindly Christie's agenda and/or his bully boy methods.

Unless the Dems are willing to "go to the mats"; they (and the rest of us) will be "taken to the cleaner's".

Sweeney and Oliver had better be willing and ready to play hardball with Governor Christie.....and they had better do it from a unified position of strength which comes from a substantila alternatve approach that they will be ready to run on.

Being chicken won't work.....that only guarantees further Democratic losses.

Let's hope they've learned that milquetoast doesn't cut it......and neither does playing along with the political machines.

Right Wing Reactionary (0.00 / 0)
We are seeing the results of a thirty year  class war, started by Ronald "Raygun", to roll back the New Deal and return to a system of rich and working poor. Unless we recognize this and fight it, we are going to lose.
Right now we have two parties, one is conservative (at least on a national level) the other is corporatist. The Republicans have succeeded in shutting down the national government and are currently taking over New Jersey by force.
I am glad to see the Democrats still have some fight left.
The Repubs are going to be very strong after the new Supreme Court ruling that corporations can throw their money into the political game without limits.
Lets just hope we are ready for the fight.

Who are you kidding (0.00 / 0)
When has "This Legislature" been committed to any type of fiscal reform? Let me help you out, if you had been committed to fiscal reform it bloody would have been done by now.

We'll make this simple for you, Daddy's home and if he starts to set things straight you better believe the electorate, who pay for pensions they themselves don't enjoy, will get behind him in force.

Ignore this at your own peril democrats.

The Republican HoboSchmo as a Point (0.00 / 0)
And also Nick Lento was right on.

I see it right here in my little town.  School Boards are out of control with their artificial turf and other over budget capital projects.

Where are the Dems when this stuff happens? Asleep at the switch.

We cant just be the party of NO to Christie, we have to show budget discipline equal to the budget disaster that we face.

The Party of NO is a Republican Technique. (0.00 / 0)
Why wouldn't they expect it in return?

We'll make this simple for you: What goes around comes around. You better believe the electorate, who fell for this rampaging Stay-Puf Marshmallow Monster, starts to get a grip on what he's going to to the middle class, they will start to scream for his head.

As scarce as truth is, the supply has always been in excess of the demand.
