Congressman Donald M. Payne
"Rep. Donald M. Payne, NJ-10"

Each week, Blue Jersey Radio streams LIVE with New Jersey's latest political buzz, interviews with newsmakers, and your stimulating calls.

This week: Our guest is Congressman Donald M. Payne, NJ-10, who's not only Newark's long-serving representative, but also the new Chair of the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation. He'll be talking about the CBC Foundation, what his role will be, and what role it plays in progressive politics. Plus, we'll catch up on his perspective of all that's going on in Washington.

With a great guest like this, it's tough to decide where to start - so help us out. What should we ask the good Congressman?

Drop your questions in the comments, then tune in and join the conversation!

It's all LIVE tonight at 8:00 p.m..

And, of course - you can always give us a call and have your say. That number again is: 646-652-2773.

Talk to you then!

Suggested questions (3.00 / 1)

Ask him about the NJ Nets moving to Newark.  The Governor, who is the "decionator," (Sara Palin recently used this word) appears to be seeking a "global solution," (Xandadu, Izod Center, the Rock, etc.) but in the meantime the best place for the Nets is in Newark and the sooner the better.  What does he think?

For Don't Ask Don't tell, what strategy is the best:  let the House and Senate vote on the matter specifically, or place the issue in a military reauthorization bill which Republicans will not likely vote against? Will it happen?

What will happen with healthcare reform, particularly since many of his constituents would benefit from increased enrollment in Medicaid and from other benefits in the proposed plan?

His thoughts on the upcoming mayoral election in Newark?

    A gentleman (0.00 / 0)

When he was asked about leaders in Newark he did not mention Mayor Booker, although the reason he arrived late at the radio show was because he attended the Mayor's SOTU speech.
He supports repealing DADT, but with little passion, and his approach seems to be to get it to a vote and have those who oppose it be made to explain why, which is OK, but maybe not as effective as placing it in the military reauthorization bill.
    Good questions - good show!
