How high was the high court...

When they voted to relax (demolish?) campaign finance laws?  One GOP NJ lawmaker calls it "destabilizing" but it's John Adler who possibly has the most on the line this November.

Slots envy?

Our neighbors in Pennsylvania are generating more revenue on slots than we are. But don't worry, folk:  our property taxes are still #1.

Camden County Freeloadersholders

Thank God the Camden County Democrats can still hand out fat contracts because they sure aren't doing anything policy-wise. Read as they tie themselves in knots over what to do with a new prison no one wants.

Beach Slapped.

A reader has some harsh words for Senator Jim Beach's abstention on marriage equality in today's Courier Post.  Whoever wrote that editorial sure was pissed!

More on marriage

APP weighs in for equality + kids of LGBTs take their stand.   This ain't over till the fat lady sings (at my wedding.)

Norcross'd

Al Doblin takes a look at Donald Norcross' meteoric rise in New Jersey politics to explain voter antipathy.

Buyer's remorse?

Is Sierra Club's Jeff Tittle having second thoughts about his Christie endorsement? Maybe check under the hood next time, homie?

Be careful of that Simon guy....

A Jersey Fresh twofer heads to Los Angeles to compete on American Idol.   Show biz is a lot like politics really:  One day you're in.... and the next you're OUT.

An oasis in Camden

Fr. Michael Doyle is the Camden priest recently profiled in a documentary called the Poet of Poverty.   The movie was screened last night in Cherry Hill and I cried and laughed and cried and laughed some more.   Here's the trailer.   And yes, that's Martin Sheen doing narration.

And finally.....

Blue Jersey founder Juan Melli has always been a mover and a shaker.  And now he's a businessman.  Congrats on his new consulting firm Melli Strategies, which you can follow on Facebook.

P.S.

Blue Jersey on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.   It's a party and you're invited!

Ocean County Democrats.... (0.00 / 0)
....and new media.  it all begins with ONE video...

Yes, his name really is Wyatt Earp (4.00 / 1)
and according to family lore, he really is related to the legendary Wyatt Earp.

I had to google that - having had cause to call Marlo Thomas yesterday (the one who works for the City of Philadelphia, not the one who is married to Phil Donahue), Wyatt Earp's name just seemed ... unlikely. I thought maybe it was word play on "new sheriff in town" or somesuch.

The SC has me shocked (0.00 / 0)
I have always been against "activist judges" -- and this is no exception.

What were they thinking?  Clearly the Congress and local Legislatures wanted campaign finance by their laws.  At least give them some freedom to impose some kind of sanity.

And thanks Jay for keeping a spotlight on the disguisting habits here in Camden County.

You are "shocked" the the SCOTUS "activist judges"??? (4.00 / 1)
Anyone round here remember Bush v. Gore?  For all the talk about judicial restraint, this SCOTUS has shown itself more than once to be a bunch of partisan hacks, with Scalia being the most malleable partisan.

Ya know what the planet thinks about Tittle/Christie/Corzine? (4.00 / 1)
Nothing.

"Satisfying" (0.00 / 0)
that's how the NYTimes describes the biopic of John Crowley, whose name was floated as a GOP candidate for the past two cycles....

DE, NJ, and PA should work together... (0.00 / 0)
...to bring riverboat gambling to the Delaware River.

Adam -Your Favorite Guy (0.00 / 0)
was on Lehrer last night, being interviewed by Judy Woodruff:

I wanted to heave.

What a shock? (1.00 / 1)
Pennsylvanians are not driving the extra 60+ miles down the AC Expressway just to lose their money in slot machines when they could do it in closer to home.  Who could have ever anticipated that???  It's a sleazy industry and I hope that those casinos all go broke in AC.  Pennsylvania now has a venue for those who are clinging to their faith and their guns to throw away their money in slot machines.  With the money they are throwing away, they will not be able to buy all that ammunition and we will all be a little safer.

Jeff Tittle is unhappy with the first moves coming out of the Christie Administratrion? (4.00 / 1)
Now that he helped to sink the Corzine campaign, Jeff Tittle is upset with Christie?  On what planet is a Republican ever better for environmental protection than a Democrat?  If Tittle didn't know this, he really has no business in wearing the crown as NJ's # 1 media whore!  Is this guy really serious.?? All you Sierra Club members better get rid of this guy fast.  He is giving the Sierra Club a bad name and making all you well meaning environmentalists look like jerks.

Agreed, Tittle Messed Up Big Time.... (0.00 / 0)
....an alleged environmentalist endorsing Christie is like Polar Bears endorsing Exxon.

Tittle was/is either, incompetent in his judgment and miscalculated or he was somehow compromised.   Either way, he's an embarrassment to the Sierra Clib and should resign or be removed by their membership.

Yes, Corzine's policies were not perfect, but compared to what we have in store from Christie; they were good.

The deeper significance is that many unsophisticated Democrats stayed home or didn't get active because they expected Corzine to be more progressive/dynamic.....and that's why Christie won.   It's not really rational; but sometimes that's human nature at a gut level.........look at the Massachusetts result.

The problem for Tittle is that he's supposed to be a pro.....and endorsing Christie was Bush league.
