June 2011

Jeff Van Drew (D-Dennis)
Shirley Turner (D-Trenton)
Nicholas Sacco (D-North Bergen)
Ronald Rice (D-Newark)
John Girgenti (D-Hawthorne)
Fred Madden (D-Washinton Twp)
James Beach (D-Cherry Hill)
Stephen Sweeney (D-West Deptford)
Paul Sarlo (D-Wood-ridge)

Senator Van Drew is honestly the only person on this list who deserves a pass, his district is just overwhelmingly Republican.

I've never been more disgusted and embarrassed than I was today to be a Democrat.

Can we make this the official primary candidate suggestion list?

Maybe sharpen it up a bit (0.00 / 0)
It would be best for all progressive issues, with the incoming administration being what it is, to have a stronger, more progressive Democratic majority in both the Senate and Assembly. (Yes, I know that's obvious).

Some of the Senators you're targeting just aren't going anywhere. Sarlo I understand has money to burn. Sweeney is probably pretty immune to a primary. Others on your list may also have such strong positions that challenging them could divert resources from more promising districts.

Ron Rice in Newark is vulnerable. Reed Gusciora should primary Shirley Turner, IMHO. I'm sure other observers could ID vulnerable, undesirable Democrats, and vulnerable (they're ALL undesirable, except for Bill Baroni) Republicans.

I know, I know - we believe in a 21 county campaign. Fine. Primary them all if candidates can be found. But I, as a donor, will be looking to put my money where it will get the most bang for the buck. I haven't got the wherewithal to do anything but play favorites, I can't make 21 contributions ... and I'd love to support Reed Gusciora for State Senate.
