Politics is all in Dick's Head

Dick Codey is outraged. He's afraid that our national government is overly politicized. Specifically, he's concerned that Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano is mishandling her position:

While I recognize that you are a dedicated and well-meaning public servant, I believe that you simply do not have the proper law enforcement qualifications and counterterrorism background to head the nation's very delicate homeland security operations. It's time that the United States move away from political appointees and former governors, and put the Office of Homeland Security in the hands of individuals with real law-enforcement and counterterrorism experience.

As far as "real law-enforcement" experience is concerned, maybe the Acting ~~Head~~ Governor Dick should read up on Secretary Napolitano:

In 1991, while a partner with the private Phoenix law firm Lewis and Roca LLP, Napolitano served as an attorney for Anita Hill. Anita Hill testified in the U.S. Senate that then U.S. Supreme Court nominee Clarence Thomas had sexually harassed her ten years earlier when she was his subordinate at the federal EEOC.
In 1993, Napolitano was appointed by President Bill Clinton as United States Attorney for the District of Arizona. As U.S. Attorney, she was involved in the investigation of Michael Fortier of Kingman, Arizona, in connection to the Oklahoma City bombing. She ran for and won the position of Arizona Attorney General in 1998. Her tenure focused on consumer protection issues and improving general law enforcement.

That's a whole lot of nothing. And if we consider who else has held the position - Michael Chertoff, James Loy, and Tom Ridge - Napolitano is as qualified as any.

So Big Dick Codey wants to depoliticize government? My God, is he going to be able to shave tomorrow? Because he sure as hell can't possibly look himself in the face after spouting such hypocritical crap.

We might just ask why ACTING Governor Dick Codey is in such a hurry to dash off such a letter. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that in one flat month, no one will give a rat's ass about what the former Senate President thinks about just about anything. There truly is nothing sadder than a has-been who is trying to hold onto one more faded memory of glory before it slips through his fingers.
