Obama Robocalls for Corzine

by: Jason Springer

Mon Nov 02, 2009 at 05:42:03 PM EST

Jake Tapper with ABC has the audio of a robo call going to voters from President Obama on behalf of Governor Corzine. Here is the script of the call:
"Hi this is President Obama," says the robocall, "I want to apologize for disturbing you, but there's an important election in New Jersey this coming Tuesday.

"Last year we started the movement for change," he says. "Now we need to keep it going."

"That's why I'm asking you to get behind Governor Jon Corzine. Together we can fix our schools, improve health care, turn around the economy so it works for all Americans.

"So please get out to vote on Tuesday. And vote for my friend and your governor Jon Corzine. Thanks for listening."

But that's not the only calling going on.  PolitickerNJ tells us that Dick Codey has a robo call going into homes of Democrats in Essex County, while Kevin O'toole has calls on behalf of Chris Christie. In addition, the State Party has had a call hammering Chris Christie and reminding voters that it's never wrong to vote for the right person, which has been a line from Chris Daggett, although they initially denied involvement in the call.

I just received my call from Pres Obama! (4.00 / 3)
My voice mail had robocalls from Sen Lautenberg and three Republicans which I hung up on.  I don't know why they are calling me as I am registered Democrat.  Then I picked up the phone and heard our President.  I have already voted.  I hope he inspires others to also.  If we GOTV, Corzine will win!

I got mine from Obama as well (0.00 / 0)
Also got one for Tammeisha Smith, running as a Democrat for the NJ 23rd legislative district, encouraging me to vote for her and the rest of the folks running on the Dem ticket. I'll be at my polling place around 7AM after I drop the kid off at school.

Fake Daggett robocalls (0.00 / 0)
Not cute. Whoever orchestrated the Daggett calls ought to be fired. Whoever knew about them ought to be fired.

It's tactics like that that lead to much much worse things in our politics. I'm tired of the shame the New Jersey Democratic Party brings to its membership.

Agree (0.00 / 0)
But I've gotten calls from Republicans with downright lies in the first sentence -- before you can hang up.  Is there really a difference?

I have already voted for Corzine, but keep getting the robocalls. (4.00 / 1)
I voted by absentee ballot because there was a smidgen of a mote of a sliver of a shadow of a particle of a Planck length that I would miss this election.

So I give the phone to my wife for all of the robocalls, not that she has any intention of missing the vote.

I also got a robocall from Rush Holt.   One of the things of which I am very proud is that in 2000, Holt appeared to have lost to that moron Dick Zimmer until the absentee ballots were counted.

One of them was mine.   I was in Italy during that election and voted for President-elected Gore and Congressman Holt by absentee.

I was devastated when I called my wife and she said that the national election was too close to call and that Holt had lost.   (In Hopewell township there was a seat on the town committee that was also, literally, a one vote affair.)

I am glad, of course, that we kept Holt, although I do not agree with him on everything.   The Democrats also held the town council seat in Hopewell that year, although a second vote was required.

But we lost the big one by one vote (unconstitutionally) in the Supreme Court, and our country and our planet are suffering greatly as a result.

I'm an atheist, but if I am wrong and there is a hell, I hope that drug addict Rehnquist is rotting in it.

Atheist that I am, I may pray for Corzine tonight...

Can't hurt.
