Corruption is Corruption by any other name

Can someone explain to me why Chris Christie gets to be above the law because he was a US Attorney and is now running for Governor?

Senator Menendez wasn't happy he was being investigated (by Chris Christie) while he was running for Senate, but he still put up with it.

Christie may not get investigated because he is no longer US Attorney under the theory of "what done is done and it can't be changed".  I understand that, but it's BS.

Will our Congress or Justice Department refuse to investigate Chris Christie because the issue is moot?  Will they decline to investigate because he no longer is US Attorney and can no longer violate the rules of that office?  Will they decline to investigate because if he wins (he won't) it will consume his term in office?

In my US Constitutional Law class, I've learned that the US Supreme Court can decline to hear cases because they believe the case is moot and has already been decided, and there is no more conflict to decide.

However, there is perfect reason to investigate Chris Christie.  I'm all about compassion and not wasting government resources on silly investigations, but he's been involved with corruption in the past, may be involved with corruption now, and will most likely be involved with corruption in the future.  He will continue to act unethically until Congress or the Courts punish him for his actions.

Corzine replaced Zulima Farber (Why on earth am I bringing her up?) when she acted unethically by trying to get her lover out of a routine traffic ticket.  Chris Christie drives the wrong direction down a one way street, causes a crash, and then drives away without getting a ticket because he was the US Attorney.

How do you run for governor and not talk about it while you are at your previous job?  In order to get a lot of the support from GOP politicos once he officially entered the race, he HAD to talk to SOMEBODY.  We are a nation of laws and he must follow them just like everyone else.

I hear stories of certain civil service public employees getting fired for demanding they get a free cup of coffee from WaWa (just like cops).  He or she violated a code of ethics, I understand that, and that person got punished.

Why isn't Chris Christie getting punished for violating the code of ethics he had to live under as US Attorney?
