They introduce Senator Weinberg (4.00 / 1)
she says they forgot to give her a stool and asks if everyone can see her?

She says it's great to be home and home is Bergen County.  Proud to welcome our Nobel Peace Prize winning President Barack Obama.

Says Obama building world that is more just, more equitable and more humane for all our people.  Deeply honored to have him with us this evening.

Convey thanks to Dem team, elected and party officials, campaign volunteers and all of the good people at the grassroots level who work every day to promote our Democratic values.  You are the heart and soul of our party and the heart and soul of our great state.

Look out at this audience.  Just look around and you'll see the face of New jersey and the face of America.  We're black, white, brown, we're all colors, we're jews, christians, muslims, hindu's, we're teachers, nurses, tradesman, stay at home and some of us are even grandmothers. We're gay and we're straight. Some us were born here and some of us chose to live here. We represent a country that finds strength in its diversity, but at the end of the day we share a common set of values.  When you break it down, our idea is very simple.  It's about working a job you love, earning a wage you can live on, owning your own home, sending your kids to great public schools, being able to visit a doctor when you're sick and retire in comfort and dignity.  We live by the rule we are our brothers and sisters keepers.  That is the vision that Barack Obama has been fighting for in Washington and that is what Jon Corzine has been fighting for in Trenton over the last 4 years.  Pround to stand with Jon Corzine and up for Jon Corzine because he has stood up for us.

Talks about fixing schools and increasing educational standards, all while cutting state budget.  In Christie's NJ, there would be no funds for pre-school, because he thinks its babysitting.  No respect for hard working teachers who help kids to grow.

In Jon Corzine's NJ, children come first.  And that's why the stakes of this election are so high.  Jon Corzine believes that your health and wellness are more important than insurance co profits and thats why he's fighting to have them cover mammorgrams, austism coverage and 48 hour stays.

In Chris Christie's NJ, insurance co's would drop coverage.  In Corzine and our NJ, people come before profits when things really matter.  That's why in just 13 days, NJ voters will choose between a Governor who stands by working families and a candidate who stands with big insurance companies, big business and the wealthy.

4 more years chant as someone fainted in the crowd.

Weinberg says she needs your help (0.00 / 0)
If we stand strong with each other, on Nov 3 NJ voters will once again say yes we can. (Chants from the crowd of yes we can and si se puede)

Says it's her honor to introduce a true champion for working families.  She had big shoes to fill. Talks about Kennedy family members as she introduces Carolyn Kennedy saying she has risen to the challenge.

Says she's a fighter and a champion for the values we all share.  Makes her voice heard when others are silent.

Kennedy takes the stage (4.00 / 1)
Thanks Weinberg for the nice introduction.  Says it's great to be back in NJ where she campaigned with parents and maybe even grandparents for Uncle Teddy in 1980.  Great to be back on the campaign trail with President Barack Obama.  NJ has always been good to the Kennedy family.  Like all of you, we want what's best for NJ, that's why she's proud to be there today to support Gov Jon Corzine.

First met Jon when he worked in the Senate with Uncle Teddy and other progressive leaders.  One of few courageous votes against Iraq and fought for Human rights.

She says Jon Corzine can fight for others because he's never forgotten where he came from.  Talks about being born on a farm, working his way through college, serving in the navy and then running for office.  Talks about how Corzine has made great strides in spite of the fact that we're in the worst recession in 80 years.  Talks about his work on public education and central focus of his efforts.  Schools are the best in the country.  Students achieve at highest levels, graduate at the highest levels, fewer dropping out, and teachers doing better thanks to Corzine.

She introduces Gov. Corzine.

Corzine takes the stage (4.00 / 1)
to "Aint no stoppin us now".  Says hey everybody.  Great to be at Fairleigh Dickinson, right?

Thank to Loretta Weinberg and Carolyn Kennedy.  The Governor seems fired up.  He says wow, I hope you're as excited as I am.  Says I'll get outta the way pretty fast because I know who you came to see.

Thanks for welcoming back Obama. Talks about the work Obama is doing to challenge us to reach for the horizons and build a better future.  Mr President, I know you're back there, we're honored you're here.

Besides always standing with my LT Govmate Loretta Weinberg, also honored to share moment with Carolyn Kennedy.  When he here's Carolyn's voice, he hears her Uncle saying to finish their work and get people quality affordable healthcare.  With President Obama's leadership that dream will become a reality.  Now is the time.

Wants to recognize electeds.  Lautenberg, Andrews, Rothman, we have a great Democratic team.  Give round of applause.  That team serves people, works with our President and we are thrilled he's our leader.

Most importantly I want to thank you all for being here.  We're all in it because we believe in NJ's future.  Thank you for welcoming our guests.  Just think, about a year ago, NJ went to the polls and said Yes we can, Si se Puede.

We said yes to economic secuiryt, we said yes to healthcare and education and jobs and yes to a governing philosphy that says we're all in this together.  We rejected failed GOP policy that says when it's tough out there, go make it on your own.

Obama's election lead to sea change to how America views the world and how the world views America.  We have a Nobel Prize winning President.

Corzine says he's proud to be Obama's partner building a better America and NJ.  Says Obama's values are NJ's values.  In less than 2 weeks, you will again have another choice.  Do we affirm politics of yes we can or do we turn back to failed policies, bankrupt of trickle down economics.  Choice btwn Gov who will fight for families or candidate that will side with corporations.  A gov who will side with healthcare or a candidate who will drop most basic coverage.  Between gov who believs we have moral responsiblity to provide a first class education or candiadte who belives pre-school is babysitting.  Thats the choice.  Nov 3 isn't about Corzine or Christie.  It's about all of us and the future to which we aspire.  The difference between Christie and me could not be more stark.  He not only advoictes policies of Bush, wants to bring back to NJ.  Like Sarah Palin and Mark Sanford, would have rejected stimulus funds.  Would have turned down pre-k and special ed funding, rail funding, driven up prop taxes by $2 billion.  When it comes to the economy, Christie is wrong when it matters most.

NJ is worried about healthcare, that's why add 100K more children. That's why we decreased uninsured by 11%.  That's why we require coverage for minimum hospital stays, thank you Loretta for that bill, we require mamomgrams, prostate screening and autism coverage.  My opponent would say no, I say no to those policies.

I promise you one thing it won't mean is more profits for the insurance.  Christie is wrong when it matters most.

On Education, he believes we have a moral obligation to provide world class education.  Even while cut size of gov't, keep focus on schools.  Invested 4 billion in new construction putting workers back to work.  That's why NJ students out perform and why we have the highest graduation rate in America.

Says his mom taught public school.  Only 1 problem with her, she's a registered Republican.  Gotta love his mom when people boo.  Chris Christie disagrees, disdains early childhood education.  I've said it before and I'll say again, Christie is wrong when it matters most.

Christie opposes prevailing wage, project labor agreements.  Turn his back on organized labor, but you know he stands with him.

As he travels the state, he meets the people to who this matters.  Gives an example.

Tells story about paid family leave (4.00 / 1)
and woman who took off to be with dieing 25 year old son. Because of paid family leave, she was able to be with her son.  In Christie's world, she'd be faced with a choice to care for her son or lose her job. That's why this election is important. He loves his state, he moved here to raise his children.  NJ gave him every opportunity in the world and he wants to make sure all our children and grandchildren have that chance.

Over the next 13 days I ask you to stand strong with me.  You do that, i'll stand strong with you for the next 4 years.  Remember we're not alone.  As NJ struggles to emerge from global recession, we have a partner.  Says Obama is challenging us to make our country a better place.

Introduces Barack Obama.

Obama takes the stage (0.00 / 0)
and shakes hands with the women behind the podium. Says hi to Corzine and Weinberg before coming to the podium for a loud cheer from the crowd.

Obama says it's good to be back in the Garden State (0.00 / 0)
The crowd is chanting Obama.  Obama thanks FDU president, Carolyn Kennedy, Loretta Weinberg, his dear friend Frank Lautenberg, 2 outstanding Congressman who supported Obama early, Steve Rothman and John Adler, one of the finest Mayors not just in NJ, but in the country, Cory Booker is in the house.  To all the other elected officials, labor leaders, religious leaders, and just leaders period, he is so proud to be here on behalf of a man who is absolutely committed to fighting for NJ's families and NJ's future, your Governor, my friend, Jon Corzine.

Obama says lets examine the facts (4.00 / 1)
Jon is running for re-election during a challenging time for NJ and America.  I don't have to tell you that, you've seen it in your own lives and communities.  Too many folks out of work and too many looking for a job.  Too many hard working families being squeezed by rising costs and shrinking salaries.  Men and women who have done the right thing that are worried because of economic factors beyond their control.  Seniors worried if they can stay on retirement.  Young people worried about affording acollege education.

I know folks are hurting, but I also know this.  For the last 4 years, you've had an honorable man at the helm of this state during one of the most difficult periouds.  Put interests of NJ families above special interests.  That's the kind of Gov Jon Corzine has been, will continue to be and thats why NJ needs to give him 4 more years.

I love the campaign Obama (0.00 / 0)
We're seeing him now, and also last night (yes, I watched it during the Yankees game, heck, it brought luck.) He's enjoying pointing out Corzine's positive achievements. Health care, education, paid sick leave, etc.

Look at the record (4.00 / 1)
provided more property tax relief than any governor in NJ history.

Stood up against those who wanted to cut education.  Expanded early childhood education because he understood pre-k isn't babysitting, it's the cornerstone of a quality education.

Under Jon's leadership, SCHIP has expanded to cover 100K more kids.  NJ is now a leader in clean energy.  And families can spend time with a loved one because of paid sick leave signed by Jon Corzine.  When it comes to issues that matter most, Jon has been a true leader.  The first Governor to pass a recovery to get this economy moving.

Listening to Jon's opponent, you'd think NJ was the only state to be swept up into the worst economic difficulty.  There seems to be some selective memory about how we got into this fix.

Listen to his opponent, you'd think NJ is the only state in America facing layoffs.  Someone yells out you tell him, Obama says I don't need to tell em, you know the truth.  It's not just teaneck, not just NJ, Americans in all corners have suffered and it came about because of the same policies that the other guy's party has been peddling for years.

These folks, they got alot of nerve. They leave this big mess and suddenly they're concerning about how fast we're cleaning it up.  I'll tell you what we don't need to do now.  We don't need politicians more interested in scoring points than solving problems.  We've had enough of people sitting on the sidelines in Trenton and Washington.  We need leaders committed to moving this country forward, this state forward, thats the kind of leader Jon Corzine is and why he deserves 4 more years.

COBRA 65% cheaper (0.00 / 0)
That's been important to people I know. Though perhaps it's an as widely available as it should be.

Frank LoBiondo Record and Jon Runyan Watch

Let me tell you about Jon Corzine (0.00 / 0)
we served in the Senate.  Says I learned about him in the Senate, about his service, how he was born into middle class family and worked his way up.

Jon Corzine was one of the best colleagues I had in the Senate and one of the best Partners I have in the White House.

Jon and I worked together to enact a recovery act.  because of recovery act, prevent police and fire layoffs.  Put middle class tax cut in pockets of 95% of hard working families.  Increased and expanded unemployment insurance.  Made Cobra 65% cheaper so if you lost job, still have healthcare while looking for a new one.  We invested more than $12k in scholarship right here at this university.

Recovery didn't just include most progressive tax cuts and emergency relief, it was the largest investment in education, clean energy in our nations history, most in infrastructure.  Cleaning up the mess we found.

Says there are still big challenges ahead in NJ and across America (0.00 / 0)
want anyone who wants a job to find a job with living wage.  Rest til not just markets are rising again, but businesses are hiring again.  Put American dream in reach of everyone.  Overcoming enormous challenges are not easy.

The difficult work of building a better future has begun in NJ and across Country.  Mentions Building green economy, put better standrards into schools and make college more affordable.  Begun work of reforming America's healthcare system.  Premiums up 90% over last decade in NJ.  Someone yells we love you, he says I love you back but I'm making an important point.

Says we know millions have been denied coverage because of pre-existing condition, more without coverage and more struggling.

Jon Corzine has begun to move NJ past the status quo.  Closer to passing serious health reform than in any time in our generation.  Thats what we're fighting for.

That's what Jon Corzine will continue fighting for if peopel give him a chance.  He knows people who might be cynical about politics.  He knows folks are skeptical about whether leaders and or will do anything about promises people face.  Year after year, decade after decade, you've seen progress stymied.

NJ now has a Governor who is bucking that trend.  Telling truth about challenges you face and making every effort to meet them.  Urging us to cast aside the  cynics to show that leaders who do what's right and hard will be rewarded, not rejected.

That's what so much of this campaign comes down to.  It's a matter of trust.  I have traveled all across the country and NJ.  Everywhere I go, people's expectations are pretty modest.  They don't want gov't to solve all their problems, they just want a shot to find a job and send their kids to college, don't be bankrupt when sick, retire with dignity and respect.

What they want from their political leaders is not someone who is slick or well groomed.  Jon's hair goes frizzy sometimes, his beard gets a little straggly.  Not someone who is going to pretend everything is ok or blame other people.  I hope what you want is somebody who is gonna be straight with you, who has your interest at heart.  He'll be out there working for you.

Coming down the home stretch in this election (4.00 / 1)
Ultimately the outcome is not up to Jon Corzine, it's up to you.  Up to everybody who cares about this state, who wants to build a better life for them and their children.  We're at one of those rare moments where we have been given the opportunity to change our country.  It starts with you.  We never promised it would be easy, but the excitement between what is and what's possible can close.

We need that same kind of energy and excitement around this campaign.  If you do that, I guarantee you'll have Jon Corzine as Governor.

Obama says he's gonna close with a story some may have heard.  He wants them knocking doors and making phone calls.

Obama tells story of where fired up comes from.  Says it started early when people couldn't pronounce his name.  You said who, he's running for what?

Early in the campaign, he went to South Carolina to legislative dinner.  He needed endorsements, turned to state legislator and she said Obama, I will give you endorsement if come to home town.

Found out Greenwood is an hour and a half from everyplace else.  Arrived at midnight, had been campaigning non-stop. Obama gets a tap on his shoulder saying they need him in the car at 6:30am to go to Greenwood like he promised.  He wakes up the next morning, feels terrible.  Wakes up and its pouring down rain.  Opens newspaper, there was a bad story in the NY Times.  Turns to Corzine and says Jon you know what that's like.  His umbrella blows open and he's soaked. They finally get to Greenwood although you don't know you're there right away because there aren't alot of buildings.  When they get inside, there are only 20 people there. He hears a person yell fired up and everyone in the room acts like it's normal.  Says he doesn't know what's going on.  There was a 5'2 tall middle aged woman dressed like she just came from church who smiles at him, points and says fired up.  Turns out woman is city councilwoman from Greenwood who moonlights as a Private detective, but wherever she goes, she always likes to chant.  For the next 5 minutes, everyone was saying fired up, ready to go.  He realizes he's being upstaged, staff is shrugging their shoulders.  After about a minute, I started feeling like I was fired up, like I was ready to go.  So he starts joining in the chant.  For the rest of the day, whenever he saw his staff he'd ask them if they were fired up and ready to go.  Became the mantra of our campaign.

The moral of the story is that 1 voice can change a room.  And if 1 voice can change a room, it can change a city.  And if it can change a city it can change a state.  Your voice can change this election.  Don't give up, don't lose heart.  Support the guy who is fighting for you.  Your voice can elect Jon Corzine Governor of NJ once again.  I need you, Jon needs you. Getting healthcare, energy done and improving our schools depends on you.  One question, are you fired up? are you ready to go? Let's get Jon Corzine re-elected. God Bless you.

And we close with the song Fired Up.
