Aw, shoot! Daggett leaves a loaded gun in a rental car

by: Rosi Efthim

From nj.com's Trail Mix:

In yet another bizarre turn in an already crazy gubernatorial campaign, independent candidate Chris Daggett this week made a mistake he'll not soon forget: He left a loaded gun in a car when he dropped it off at a dealership.

Daggett says it was an honest mistake, that the gun belongs to his driver, a retired NJ State Trooper, and the car in question was a loaner from an Acura dealership in Bridgewater. Daggett's own car, which of course he's piled miles on during the campaign, was being serviced. Daggett says it was addressed immediately, yesterday.

Of course mistakes with loaded guns can be very serious, but I buy the explanation.  I hope this incident reminds everyone with a gun to double check every time!

What is it with these candidates and their cars? n/t (4.00 / 1)

i'd just like to point out (0.00 / 0)
that a law abiding citizen was careless with his weapon.  how can he defend himself against the criminals when he's careless and leaves it in his friend's car?

easy. (0.00 / 0)
he's an ex cop.  so criminals won't bother him.

More of an Old School Lefty if anything......

obviously your error (0.00 / 0)
is thinking he only has one gun!

but the point still stands... (0.00 / 0)
everyone makes a big deal about "law abiding citizens" having the right to carry guns on their body as they go about their daily lives.  here is an example of a former cop being careless with his weapon
