Did Christie just October Surprise himself?

by: Rosi Efthim

Mon Oct 19, 2009 at 02:50:23 PM EDT

Man, Christie must just be screaming in some expensive hotel room right now. This is as bad a late-campaign public relations disaster as I can remember. It's just baffling. Is Christie trying to lose this election?

The man on the street interviews are brutal. News 12:

Over at Channel 11, they're saying:

Taxpayers may have to foot more bills for state officials to travel if the GOP wins the governor's race next month.

Boom.

that's brutal (4.00 / 1)
The media is just playing it straight by running with Christie's actual statement.  I mean, his only defense is that he wouldn't really anyone to do it, he was just lying to excuse his past behavior.

I have to think of a witty signature about Frank LoBiondo

You know you're in trouble when... (4.00 / 6)
the newscast sounds like an ad for your opponent.

No Doubt There's Even More To Come.... (0.00 / 0)
As I've been saying for many many months now, Christie is a partisan hack asshole.

I bet there are HUNDREDS of times he was stopped (over the last ten years) for breaking traffic laws that aren't even on record because the cops just totally let him slide.  Christie was a well connected guy before he was a US Attorney!   The guy is a certifiable sleaze,  he's a Republican version of Joe Ferriero.

Barring a total Corzine screw up; the election is over. Corzine won. Between the fact that Christie is a certifiable asshole and teh Corzine dollar advantage and Doggett taking more from One Way's tally.....Corzine wins by about 5 in the conventional realm.

If Corzine took my advice (lol which I am sure he never got to hear from anyone) and ran as a balls out agressive progressive admitting that he was too cautious/conventional the first four years and had spent five million on a viral campaign to register/MPOTIVATING and additional 500K Democrats from the ranks of the poor and uninsured and the young he would have won (or will have won) by a whopping 20 points and wouldn't be beholden to the machines for their GOTV "magic".

And it would have set a great tone nationally.... Read More

If Corzine continues to govern as a Goldman Sachs "centrist", the next four years will be more of the same......but still better than the hell Christie would have put us through.

Obviously for issues like Marriage Equality...Corzine is indeed transformative.......but that's a virtual gimme for a NJ Democrat these days (given the polling numbers) and it actually is GOOD for the economy. We need to go much much further and deeper into the progressive agenda on all issues.

It's a shame we don't have other/viable options, eh?

The election is not over until the last voter pulls the lever.

What is he thinking (4.00 / 1)
their reaction to the problems that come their way only make the situation worse.

If the man generously lends money to his staff who are in need, it follows that he'd let them stay at a good hotel if there aren't any econolodges around.

Hey it's only money.

Carville on luxury digs (0.00 / 0)
That reminds me of something James Carville once said, once he'd reached the level where his consultancy was pulling in more money than Bill Clinton was making in the White House:

My populism does not extend to my choice of hotel.

It's not a particularly snappy signature, but here's what I think we need in the next NJ Democratic State Chair.
