Why We Need Debates

Earlier this week our campaign called for 6 debates , but I wanted to reiterate how important I think political debates are to the electoral process, and democracy in general. Career politician and Trenton Insider Scott Rumana refused to debate his opponents during the contested Republican primary and this is simply unacceptable. What is he doing to help the many families of the 40th District who are being affected by these difficult economic times? How is his Legislation improving the lives of his 40th District constituents and what he plans on doing if he gets reelected in November? Its time for Rumana to explain to his constituents why he should continue to represent them at a salary of $49,000 per year.

What is his plan for to help 40th District families that are struggling with out of control property taxes? How is he going to help bring money back to the 40th District for education and transportation improvements? Rumana and David Russo do not even have a campaign website-they both have been elected officials for the last 2 decades-a fact that is simply unacceptable.

Where do Trenton Insiders Scott Rumana and David Russo stand? The lack of transparency and accountability by Rumana and Russo is unacceptable and frankly disrespectful to the constituents they were elected to represent. Unfortunately, the only people they represent are corporate lobbyists and political insiders -- not the families and people of the 40th District.

I urge everyone, call Scott Rumana and David Russo and ask them if they are going to debate Mark and I 6 times in all 3 counties of the 40th District so that voters can see where we all stand on the issues.

Unfortunately, the Passaic and Essex County Republican Organizations don't have phone numbers for you to reach them, but I urge everyone-write your weekly papers, Bergen Record, and the Herald News and urge Scott Rumana and David Russo to defend their records. We need to keep the pressure on them so they know that this time they are going to be held accountable for their poor records over the last 17 years. Their stale, old ideas are not working, and we need a fresh perspective to bring real representation to 40th District families.
