What would you ask Governor Corzine?

by: Jeff Gardner

Mon Aug 17, 2009 at 11:15:00 AM EDT

Staff MeetingIt's not every day I get a chance to interview a governor. Oh, let's face it - it's not any day I get that chance - until now!

That's right - the big guy is sitting down to chat with me and Jason this week on Blue Jersey Radio, and as always, we invite all y'all to help us out with your own questions.

So if you were the host of Blue Jersey Radio, and you had a chance to interview Governor Corzine right now, what would you ask him?

Leave your questions in the comments, or tweet your ideas using #asknjgov

we will absolutely use the best suggested question, and credit you with the ask - so, don't be shy.

Wouldn't now (4.00 / 3)
be the ideal time for a special session on ethics? To close the dual officeholding loophole, end wheeling, and get that pay to play ban done across the board, even locally.

If not, why not?

This Is The Time To Sign Loretta's... (4.00 / 3)
...Party Democracy Act.

It was passed weeks ago.

Waiting too long may give the impression that the machine's are pressuring you to implement the law later rather than sooner.

On the other hand signing it NOW gives Loretta Weinberg a great platform to reming the people of New Jersey of what kind of reform candidates you BOTH are.

Also, check out the new NYT expose on Christie and USE THE MATERIAL THEREIN AGGRESSIVELY!!!

Aggressively means you calling him out personally to answer all the questions that your campaign submitted via the FOIA statutes.

Also, press Christie on the fact that he either blatantly violated the Hatch Act...or came pretty damn close and gave the stron appearance of impropriety (at the least)....and that, as a US Attorney he was supposed to be above reproach in his actions not beneath contempt.

Given that he's actually running for office, and may have broken the law, he needs to questioned under oath and be investigated by a special prosecutor post haste.  Demand an inquiry.

If the shoe was on the other foot, you can be SURE that Christie would be calling you out on a daily basis.

FIGHT!!!

Sierra Club Endorsement of Daggett (0.00 / 0)
Is the governor relieved that Daggett received the Sierra Club endorsement instead of Christie?

Daggett doesn't oppose Yucca Mtn as a nuclear waste repository (0.00 / 0)
I asked him after a Citizens Campaign fundraiser.

I assume that Corzine, who is, unfortunately, willing to include nuclear in the mix for energy sources, at least thinks Yucca Mtn (too close to an earthquake fault for comfort) is a bad idea.

Oyster Creek should be shut down, and I'm not sure Daggett is on board with this.  Corzine should be.

The Governor (4.00 / 2)
is being very generous with his time. I hope everybody joins us tomorrow - Tuesday 8pm - when this interview will air.

Corzine was a big hit at Netroots Nation, and there was a lot of interest in him, his views, his role in keeping this state in the hands of forward-thinkers as the national Republicans get ready to pour resources in here to flip their losing streak.

So, let's see what he has to say tomorrow night, and tweet suggestions to the guys at #asknjgov or drop them here.

It's not a particularly snappy signature, but here's what I think we need in the next NJ Democratic State Chair.

when is he going to fill the 2 open slots on the GRC? (0.00 / 0)

As the Star Ledger mentioned this weekend, we need the two open spots filled on the Government Records Council.  Getting records custodians to play by the rules can be a full time job.  Why do we pay 25 cents for the first 10 pages?  At least the panel that hears citizens' complaints should be staffed.

When will you present a plan for fixing NJ's tax burden? (4.00 / 1)

It's the most important question in this campaign.   Granted, Mr. Christie has no plan, but the public seems to give him more slack as the newcomer for coming up with specifics later.   But it's the feeling of many Democrats that taxes are the most important issue for  independent voters and they aren't going to vote for Gov. Corzine unless there is a plan for reducing our tax burden.   The Governor gets alot of credit for bringing down the rate of increase to only 4% a year for property taxes, but they're still increasing each year.  Many voters would like to see a plan for freezing or reducing the tax burden.

I would like to thank (0.00 / 0)
the Governor for his Administrations' work on water quality, as a water resources engineer. Can the Governor elaborate for the listeners the positive environmental accomplishments during his term and next steps he sees as crucial for environmental progress?

Follow-up, does he plan on any work regarding Affordable Housing to prevent the loopholes builders now use to force through detrimental projects?

One Vote.  Yours.  It really does matter.

Thanks for all these (0.00 / 0)
We used at least 3 of your questions at some point in the interview. Thanks as always for your help - hope you tune in Tuesday night!
