Take the Poll: Who's it gonna be?

by: Jason Springer

Wed Jul 22, 2009 at 08:16:17 PM EDT

Governor Corzine tweeted earlier today that he will hold a press conference to announce his running mate for the Lieutenant Governor on Saturday. While more details are to come, Senator Ray Lesniak had this to say about all of the public discussion that has gone on over the potential choice:
"I think it may be just a lot of Democrats like myself liking to talk to the press.  That's inside baseball and inconsequential. What matters is what the Governor's ultimate choice and we'll see when he makes that announcement,"
So we still have a few days left to talk inside baseball and speculate some more about who the Governor will choose.  Speculation has centered around a final three choices of Barbara Buono, Loretta Weinberg and Randal Pinkett, who kept his name in the running today saying he would consider running if the Governor wanted him.

So who do you think Corzine will choose? Take the poll and let us know what you think.

Getting ridiculous (0.00 / 0)
Corzine had months to pick someone since he knew he would be the nominee and is familiar with the major players.  Now he looks weak and indecisive.  He has to hit a homerun with his choice and it should be someone "outside the box" who can energize voters.

So far the Corzine campaign has been disappointing to say the least.  He's beating a dead horse with the negative ads which won't help anymore than they helped Lonegan in the primary.

If he picks another establishment politician the question arises why it took him so long, especially since he blew a great photo-op his running mate would have with Obama.

I think BB too. n/t (0.00 / 0)

The suspense (0.00 / 0)
is too much.

Loretta is the only candidate who can appeal to the grassroots folks who mobilized for Obama, the anti-corruption crowd, the healthcare reformers as well as minority voters and the elderly.  She cuts across all the demographic groups - including Republican white men (like my dad.)

You don't get that kind of support by being on reality TV, or simply being from one part of the state.  You get it by passing 90 bills into actual laws.  Getting political street cred the hard way.  Not to mention fighting the Party Bosses - and winning.

Corzine needs Loretta on the ticket.

One Vote.  Yours.  It really does matter.

Why settle? (0.00 / 0)
If she's that great can't we just run her for governor?

Struggle for the soul of the party (0.00 / 0)
Loretta Weinberg will bring the party back to the people. I also hope she runs in 2013. But the Big Boss Men have to feed their many minions, so there will be ferocious resistance to change. But the times they are a-changin'.

Hope Weinberg but think it will be Buono (0.00 / 0)
Just as long as it's not Pinkett.
