Maybe they didn't tell Steele the NJ GOP doesn't want Palin

by: Jason Springer

Michael Steele is in town today stumping on behalf of Chris Christie, even if Blue Jersey has done more publicizing of the events than the campaign. But apparently Steele wasn't briefed well, because he's still shooting for Sarah Palin to see Russia from Trenton:
Steele afterwards said he looked forward to Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin campaigning for Republicans across the country, including New Jersey and Virginia, to what best fits her schedule.

Christie, however, said he does not plan on having Palin, who has announced her resignation as governor effective July 26, campaign in New Jersey. Christie said he wants to focus his campaign on New Jersey's issues and how he would address the state's problems.

What I wouldn't give for some follow up questions.  Here's just a few I would have liked to see asked by an intrepid reporter:
1. Does Michael Steele plan on bringing Palin into NJ over the objections of Christie?

2. How does Chris Christie think that keeping the focus on NJ means bringing in National figures like Steele, Rudy and Romney?

3. Athough they don't want Sarah Palin to stand on stage in this state, would they accept financial support and a check to the PAC?

4. Will she come in for a private fundraiser if they don't want her out in public?

And those are just the questions pertaining to today's quotes. What questions would you like the media to be asking?

Who needs Palin . . . (0.00 / 0)
. . . when we have Lee Lucas to kick around?

I'd like for someone to ask Steele if he agrees with GOP Chairman Webber and other GOP leaders that 3rd district GOP Assembly candidate Lee Lucas step down for racist comments he made according to a police report.

Lucas has a history of making racist and derogatory comments, and only won because of favorable ballot position.  The question is how far Christie can go in calling for Lucas to step down without alienating his rightwing base.

It is a legitimate question (0.00 / 0)
Lucas said again today that he wasn't going to get out of the race:
"It's not even a consideration, and I hope I make their blood boil," Lucas told PolitickerNJ.com. "I'm messing with the Republican leadership. I'm not only not going anywhere, I'm having fun. I'm doing the irish gig."
I haven't seen Christie say anything about the issue yet.

Another question for Steele (0.00 / 0)
Does he endorse attempts by Loneganistas to get the NJGOP to formally adopt the national GOP platform, including the pro-life and anti-gay provisions?

Will Steele urge NJ Republicans to sign the petition being circulated by GOP dissidents ("Conservatives With Attitude" a.k.a. "Crackpots With Agita") calling on NJGOP leaders to adopt the national platform?

It gets even better (0.00 / 0)
Dick LaRossa has posted his own questions and comments on PolitickerNJ.com for Mike Steele to consider during his visit.

Republicans like Dick LaRossa don't just eat their own.  They slice and dice them in a chopper before putting them into a grinder to make mush.
